Odin's Woods Coven

Age Range/Type: Teen
Located in: Lansing, Michigan
Key Contact: Nathan

Spiritual Path: Eclectic Wicca
Status: Group Forming
Community Support: Teaching Available

Group Overview: Edit: We are also currently offering teaching, even if the student doesn't plan on joining the Coven. This will help to train those who are new to Wicca/Paganism, even if they can't make a commitment to a group setting for various reasons. Students must be local, and at least 18 years old (younger, only if they have parental approval) .

Odin's Woods Coven is a group that is newly forming. We practice an eclectic form of Wicca. We will try incorporate ideas from each new member, but for the most part, the basic structure will remain intact. Our focus is on worship, not magick. That doesn't necessarily mean we will never perform magick, it just means magick will be reserved for special circumstances only.

As far as pantheons are concerned, we will not be limiting ourselves to anything specific. We will try to narrow it down to Pantheons and Deities that are native to European Paganism. Celtic, Norse, Roman, Greek, Slavic, Gaelic, ect.

Size: No more than 13, and the ideal number we are looking for is around 6-8 people.

Meeting Schedule: We will meet on every Esbat and Sabbat. We will try to meet at least twice every month, and ideally, once every two weeks.

Structure: We will be a democratically run group once we get a few members into the group. Most decisions will be made by a vote of every member present at the meeting. This will give the High Priest and Priestess an idea of what the Coven thinks about a certain decision. Once the vote has been tallied by the High Priest and Priestess, they will both decide based on how the votes went to accept the proposed rule, or decline it. The coven will be run by a High Priest and Priestess that will serve equally. Neither one will be more important than the other. They will be elected every year, that way, they will both have a chance to observe all the Esbats and Sabbats as High Priest/Priestess.

Influences: We will have several Pagan authors and leaders that we will use to guide our work. If the works of Buckland and Cunningham appeal to you, then you will have a good start. We don't rely solely on any select group of authors/book, but try to incorporate many aspects of Wicca that works well for us.

Membership: We are currently considering all serious applications to join our coven. There will be an interview process in order to protect the safety of our members and their privacy. It also insures that we will weed out applicants that won't work well for us. We will meet at a public place to do the interview of course.

About myself: I have been practicing Wicca as a solitary for about 4 years now. I have had leadership roles in the past, including leader of a Masonic organization's chapter. I served as ritual leader for 6 months before my term was up. I am a Religious Studies major in Lansing. I would like to try provide an educational group to teach people in the same age group as me (High School and College age) .

If you would like to join, please feel free to send me an e-mail at: bigbake132@yahoo.com

Just put your name, what city you live in, how long you have been practicing the Craft (it's okay if you are completely new) , what you would like to get out of belonging to a coven, what books you have read on Wicca and Paganism, and anything else you might want to add about yourself.

Blessed Be,

Nathan
