Group Overview: There is a unique Alexandrian Witchcraft group in the Central Minnesota (St. Cloud to Brainerd and surrounding areas) . An outer court is already formed and informal classes are being taught to its members. There is also a coven of inner court initiates who are practicing this tradition. The outer court is called Stang and Cauldron, and from it, individuals may be selected to join with the inner court coven, which is called Coven of the Nine, sister coven of Polaria Borealis in the Minneapolis area. Now is a good time to investigate a traditional initiation in the lineage of the Craft as the inner court is still building itself up. Initiation specifically includes training in the arts of high magick and covencraft. There is also a sister outer court group located in the Atlanta , GA. area, as well in the Knoxville, TN area, and members located in Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee and North Carolina as well as Minnesota.
The Alexandrian tradition of Witchcraft was founded by Alex Sanders in the mid 60's in England. This branch of British Traditional Witchcraft (BTW) represents a mixture of basic Gardnerian witchcraft blended with the teachings of high magick. As the Rose Ankh is the symbol of this branch, it is considered to be the Goddess based spiritual and magickal alternative to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (whose symbol is the Rose Cross) . Alex himself was one of the greatest magicians in the 20th century since Aleister Crowley, and was a trance medium of no small ability. The focus of this tradition is the reclamation of high magick into the earth-based traditions of Goddess worship. This reclamation process is still very valid today. Like Gardnerian witchcraft, the Alexandrian tradition offers three initiatory grades, and also a fourth, for the truely advanced devotee of the Goddess and magick.
The Elders who are offering this tradition to the community have over decades of experience as witches and magickal practitioners between them. The High Priestess and High Priest of the coven, along with their elders, assist in the training, dedication and initiation of students. Interested people of all persuasions, ages (must be at least 18) and genders are invited to contact and study with us - previous study and initiations are not required, but they do help. Solitary witches who wish to seek out a group are also very welcome. Our organization stresses spiritual egalitarianism, respect for all paths, personal responsiblity and ethical behavior between members and the public at large.
