Group Overview: Hollow Hills Coven & Grove is an independent coven dedicated to teaching wicca and magic in hearth & home, coven & craft, tribe & tradition.
Hollow Hills Coven and Grove was founded by Jack and Jenny Green at a Mabon Ritual in 2010. Having spent decades working with a variety of different pagan groups, Jenny and Jack decided it was time to form their own coven. We are an independent coven, not affiliated with any formal tradition. We have our roots in Druidry and British Traditional Witchcraft, and are influenced by the Skystone Nations and the Faery Faith.
Together, we hold Wiccan rituals on the Sabbats and Esbats and other special occasions in order to celebrate the seasons, work magick, recognize rites of passage, and honor the Goddess and God. As a Wiccan Coven in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota, we Honor the Earth and all Her creatures as sacred. We are a practical group that works to heal and protect the environment within hearth and home, coven and craft, tribe and tradition, throughout our nation, and across the world.
Part of that is the work to teach Wiccan beliefs and traditional skills to members and students, and sisters and brothers in the Craft and those of kindred spiritual paths. Where appropriate, we also look for opportunities to educate the general public about Wicca.
Skystone Traditions: The Faery Ring Era
Jack Green has long been a student of the great stone rings found around the world and the cultures that built them. It is clear to Jack that many of the foundational structures of the Fairy Faith, British Traditional Wicca and Arthurian Mythos all stem from this deep, 3000 year long, cultural layer in British and Western European pre-history. Any pagan tradition that reveres to Old Stone Rings is a Skystone Tradition.
The Arthurian Mythos
It is a well-known historical and archeological fact that the Romans built a string of fortresses along the East Coast of Roman Britania to fight off Germanic raiders. They called this the ‘Saxon Shore’. When Rome left in 410 AD something kept off the Saxon raiders for one hundred and fifty years. Archeologists call this the ‘Arthurian Fact’. The Anglo-Saxons finally successfully invaded Britania and put it on the road to becoming England. So, after all that, is the classic Arthurian symbol of the Sword in the Stone Celtic or pre-Celtic? Come and find out!
The Faery Faith
Cultures all around the world have legends of otherworldly beings that have contact with humans from time to time. This coven get’s it’s name from their dwellings, known for centuries as the Hollow Hills. We take the Faeries very seriously, as did the Reverend Robert Kirk.
The Reverend Robert Kirk, Minister of the Parish of Aberfoyle, Stirling, Scotland, wrote in 1691:
“These Siths or Fairies they call Sleagh Maith or the Good People…are said to be of middle nature between Man and Angel, as were Daemons thought to be of old; of intelligent fluidous Spirits, and light changeable bodies (lyke those called Astral) somewhat of the nature of a condensed cloud, and best seen in twilight. These bodies be so pliable through the sublety of Spirits that agitate them, that they can make them appear or disappear at pleasure” – from The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns and Fairies
Both our founders, Jenny & Jack Green, have had personal experiences with these otherworldly beings, and work with them as part of their dedication to Nature.
