Spiritual Path: Wicca
Status: Established Group

Group Overview: Ozark Avalon is a Wiccan church and nature preserve located only three miles off I-70 (exit111) between Kansas City and St. Louis, 12 miles from Boonville and 16 from Columbia. We follow the Wiccan Rede and are open to all beings and spirits of good intent who agree to follow our Natural Laws regardless of path. Our mission is to provide access to nature, a safe place for outdoor worship in an earth-centered, earth honoring spiritual context, to promote community among persons with these beliefs and practices and to further environmentalism and appreciation for nature spirits and the earth. We are open year around for events, workshops and our open year and a day classes.

Our land is located on the bluffs above the Missouri River Valley and offers rugged woods, and beautuful high meadows. It is protected and blessed by Gaia and Cernummos, fae folk and spirits of the ancestors. It is home to many species of wildlife as well as a small community of caretakers, priests and priestesses.

There are many beautiful places to camp and hostel style indoor sleeping space. We have modern kitchen and bathroom facilities in our farmhouse retreat center and in the mobile home where our libraryu/classroom is located. We also have Frog bog, our solar assisted showhouse and art gallery with compost toilets nearer the main camping areas. We also offer Moon Hollow, a remote, adult only camping area that is clothes optional.
Camping during non-event times is $10 a night a person for tenting or $15 to sleep inside. Oakspirits camp for $4 or and can stay inside for $8 a night. .

We offer a free, open worship circle each month, usually at the time of full or new moon, and a schedule of Wheel of the Year and other festival style events focusing on different spiritual themes. The schedule can be viewed at our website at www.ozarkavalon.net. Please note that some events are family focused and others are for adults only. Special arrangements may be made for those with a true desire to attend but lmited funds.

Our group is open to membership based on participation and adhereance to our Natural Laws of Governance. Minimum requirements are attendence and participation for 13 occassions over a year and a day in all four seasons. We currently have around 140 members of all ages. Our land and church is governed by a nine member Board of directors. In addition to our mission of providing access to land we serve the community by participating the Columbia Earth Day Coalition, the Columbia Area Interfaith Alliance, the Pagan Educational Network , Mid-Missouri Pagan Pride and Hearthfires of Mid-Missouri..

In addition to our scheduled events we are open for camping and personal retreats in our 150 year old farmhouse year round. E-mail us at rosewise@starbandt.net or call 660-882-6418 or 573-289-3657. See our website at www.ozarkavalon.net.
