Group Overview: L'Academie Ynys Wyth is an open, private, academy with a Inner Court and Outer Court Coven Circle that exists to serve the community by educating youth and adults about Craft Tradition, Protocol, manners/etiquette, the old craft laws and a wide range of curricula. Our Academy will eventually become fully accredited with you and your help serving the educational needs of students from K through Baccalaureate.
While admissions are generally open and wide-ranging (we do not discriminate on any labels) we do suggest minimum donations on a sliding scale. We consider applicants from all over the world but mandate that a student must make residence in Springfield, Missouri or environs. This policy is firm because our techniques are ageless and require hands on instruction and assessment.
Our numbers are still small indeed and when it is appropriate we shall file for Missouri not-for-profit designation for the academy and sanctuary lands. Our Sanctuary Land Trust will require this of us at some point in the future. Our Temple is undergoing the appropriate registration to become a Missouri non profit corporation and 501 (c) (3) .
The Academy remains the Outer Court arm of the Inner Court Coven i.e. Temple. We prefer to remain anonymous with the name of our Coven/Nemeton/Grove here at this place and time because we honour the old craft laws and nothing shady is transpiring. It is truly terrible to experience attacks from non pagan people and worse yet when pagans fight pagans.
The Coven is open to seekers who make their way to the academy and a brief description is, therefore, in order:
We are Blue Star Pagans on the Keltic path through blood-line descent (Prytani-Witta) but have many influences from family blood-line origins. We observe four primary monthly Esbats and the typical eight Sabbats (so students can learn best) but our calendars are based on the Coligny and the Julian calendars so our dates for the Grand and Lesser Sabbats are somewhat different than typical Wiccan groups. Astronomical events: Lunar Events, Solstices, Equinoxes, Eclipses, etc. are still observed when they occur.
We are very traditional and tradition minded (simply put many of us have had troubles with eclecticism insofar as we need only study our own heritage for the variety we need) and are very family minded. Therefore we welcome children and, substance abuse, is frowned upon offering help where needed and not condemned. We are open-minded but not to the point where we let the camel into the tent (we are blue-bloods not camels) .
Our group is very active in the community but yet privacy rights are very much respected so we act positively and anonymously oftentimes. Some of our projects include: our serial newspaper/magazine The Coligny, Publishing, the Academy, and we are even considering many Trade Guilds.
Our primary focus, however, is obtaining Sanctuary Lands via Nature Preservation Projects for all the community to utilize. No one but the steward will live anywhere near the Sanctuary because we are not a Cult.
What a whirl but we manage to make an appropriate impact where it is needed most.
