The Temple of The Thicket

Age Range/Type: Family
Located in: Springfield, Missouri
Key Contact: Brijdrix de Prytani

Spiritual Path: Blue Star Paganism -- Prytani
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: The Temple of The Thicket, currently based in Springfield, Missouri, Ozarks is a Temple dedicated to the advancement of human potential and apropriate community service to help aid a more positive and proactive approach to Pagan causes of a local nature.

We incorporate traditional Prytani-Witta teachings of the Blue Star Pagan Way.

The Temple of The Thicket has room to sponsor and steward a Grove for our brethern and can offer speciality Covens ranging anywhere from all womyn covens, wyvern covens, elder covens, and more within the protective bosom of The Temple of The Thicket.

Surrounding our Temple and the internal Covens is L'Academie Ynys Wyth. We believe education to be the most important aspect to our beliefs. The Academy offers courses ranging from Antrhopology to Zither, for grades K through Baccalaureate. We hope to one day become fully accredited with the help from the entire community.

We believe we are a religion of Clergy and offer ordination services for those wishing to perform legal clergy duties.

We are a closed Temple generally speaking but invite everyone to our Temple. Our covens are diverse and are very closed.

We have always endeavored to have remained on the very best of terms with all we meet and greet -- we have no enemies, save those meaning us harm. Harm being defined by the individual.

We educate prospective members on a wide range of matters, Debate and Rhetoric, and other arts of rhyme, verse, and intellect are used to test the Seeker of his or her resolve and commitment for potential membership in The Temple of The Thicket and one of the many special covens we offer and intend to offer . We Do Not Discriminate.

We Honor Diversity and always have.

It has been asked many times so the answer to the following question seems in order: What does it symbolize, the imagery of the temple in the thicket? We understand the confusion and would like to illumine the sophisticated seeker.

The imagery of the thicket is one of the most ancient. We have in our world art, museum, community images which were unearthed from Mesopotamia of a stag caught in a thicket. Not to worry, no one gets, caught, here. The thicket of bramble is symbolic of nature and the world-view of nature in balance. The stag is a symbol of kingship. The act of simply being caught is that act and tradition of self-sacrifice or in today's PC world: community service.

But it is the ancient timelessness of this image we saught when the name was chosen for the final time. Our genealogical origins from generation to generation, from decade to decade, from century to century, does In Fact originate with proof from very ancient sources in direct lines most notably: Scythia, Aegypt, and Mesopotamia!

Surrendering to the Higher Power for the greatest good is what endures most, and the act of community service however appropriate and needed as one who is Gnostic or one who knows or one who seeks within and found and is willing to share, is what this imagery of the Temple of The Thicket is all about.

Hopefully this helps a little?
