Group Overview: This group is for women and girls in and around the St Louis area only. Being a Goddess is about so many things... spirituality, friendship, health, beauty, emotions... The intent of this group is to find that balance to be the best Goddesses we can be! How do you find that balance? We will be emailing and eventually meeting at least once a month to discuss topics such as family, health, fitness, romance, relationships, entertaining, money, career, spirituality, and creativity. This group is especially for you if you haven't yet managed to find a comfortable place within the mainstream, local pagan community. IMPORTANT NOTE: This group will have women of all backgrounds and traditions, and it is important that we are open-minded and tolerant of each other. No cultural, gender oriented, or religious bashing will be tolerated here. We can learn alot from each other :-)
I chose the name Hestia's Hearth for our group because Hestia was the tender of the eternal flame in the Greek pantheon, she was also known for having a good heart and sweet disposition, but she was often left out because most of the other deities in the pantheon were more colorful and/or extravagant. Little is really known about Hestia in her own right, most computer searches will turn up her Roman alter ego Vesta (slightly more has been found as far as she is concerned!) but I relate to Hestia in the sense that, even though I do try to sometimes attend local, mainstream events, I (like Hestia) am not as "colorful" as a lot of the mainstream and had to find my own comfortable place. If you feel similiarly, please join us.
