Group Overview: We are no longer accepting new members for the foreseeable future. There’s been too much of a good thing lately and we are full up. Try again next year, though this listing will likely be gone with the rest of The Witches Voice. : (

The Circle of the Sacred Edge is a small circle of Eclectic Wiccans with many influences, not least of which is Modern Traditional Witchcraft, shamanism, Druidry, and any other flavors that new members add to our bubbling stew. We honor both the Goddess and God, as well as specific Deities and guides. We have worked together privately since 2006.

We are small and non-hierarchical, but the more experienced members are active in teaching the less experienced. Though, truthfully, we all learn from each other. We are focused on continual learning, creating beautiful experiences together, and working effective magick.

We are currently accepting students, but only if the intention is to become a practitioner of witchcraft and join the circle. However, this doesn't mean that one of us will meet you and then immediately you can join the circle. We're small and close and so we want to make sure everyone is comfortable before moving into group workings. This goes both ways, as we want everyone who works with us to feel comfortable with us and prepared for working in a circle. Not everyone works in every circle. Group magick can bring people together AND can highlight tensions like nothing else. It's important that the people working together can trust each other to communicate effectively and have the best interests of everyone at heart. Determining this takes time and a getting to know one another phase. Training time will depend on the experience of those interested and their availability.

I'm just going to paste the introductory email I use after this paragraph. If you can show me that you read it and have opinions about it that are thoughtful, even if you don't entirely agree, you're much more likely to get a reply. And yes, I put it partway down this posting because I am trixie and don't want to bother with people who don't read.

If you're interested in joining our circle, first you have to be okay with our tradition or style. We are eclectic Wiccan, which means we use Wiccan structure in our group rituals (circle casting, four quarters, calling God and Goddess, etc) , but most importantly we all agree on the ethical basis of Wicca which is focused on harm none and karma (three fold law) . To us, this amounts to taking responsibility for your actions, trying to do the right thing, and being aware that the repercussions of your actions can ripple out to the world around you and into your own life. Also we believe in reincarnation and do some work with past lives. We, like most Wiccans, worship the God and Goddess (Who are the greater universal consciousness/creators) , but unlike most Wiccans we also work with other Deities as separate individuals rather than aspects of the One or the God and Goddess. Though if you see things in the more conventional Wiccan way that's perfectly fine. We also include many aspects of Modern Traditional Witchcraft and stress the tenets of knowing yourself, maintaining balance, and taking responsibility. If you don't buy into all of this 100%, that's actually doesn't mean you're not compatible. We'll just need to discuss it some to see if it's workable. We actually like people who question and don't agree with everything we say.

We are more interested in working with practitioners than participants. That means, while you may start off just participating and observing, we want new people to show initiative in learning, helping to plan rituals and spells, and researching and practicing on their own. Research and teaching can be guided, but not completely decided by teachers. We expect YOU to be the architect of your path.

We're small and we do some amazing work together, but that's only when we are working with people who are capable of communicating and who share our values of honesty, compassion, and taking responsibility. We also like people with their own opinions who are curious and willing to learn, but won't just believe because we say something is some way. This doesn't mean being argumentative is great, but being willing to disagree and ask why and express your feelings and perspective in a constructive manner is a big plus.

We have a few participation requirements. We are a small circle and would like to include people who are willing to apply themselves. We're flexible if life gets in the way and work with most active people's schedules, but if a prospective member doesn't invest in us by showing effort, we will not use our time and energy to invest in them. We occasionally have classes, ritual planning sessions, a few full moon Esbats, and we celebrate all of the Sabbats. We like local people to come to 5 of the Sabbats (there are 8 a year) and at least 2 of the classes a year (these depend on how busy the teachers are and group interest) . These requirements are actually more relaxed than most initiatory covens. Sometimes a student or member requests a ritual or class and, in those cases, we want the person who makes the request to come to the planning sessions and the rituals. We do spells, past life regressions, spirit guide journeys, shapeshifting rituals, healings, etc for people who participate. It's also pretty cool to be part of the planning of many of these things and learning by doing is the best way to learn. :)

We announce rituals and classes at least a month in advance, so there's a lot of notice. We're flexible if things come up, but if things come up too regularly we might start wondering if our circle is a good fit for your life and your current path.

If you're interested in joining, we would like to meet in a public place (restaurant, library, park, cafe, etc) . There we will discuss your interests and path and give you more details about the group and generally get to know each other. I will be there with another senior member. You can bring a friend if it would make you feel more comfortable. :)

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Blessed Be,
