Two Valley Pagan Study Group
Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Missoula, Montana
Key Contact: Fuil Fitheach Sian
Spiritual Path: Wicca/Paganism
Status: Group Forming
Community Support: None Offered

Group Overview: THIS IS A GROUP IN FORMING.
Seeking like minded Pagans and Wiccans in Missoula/Bitterroot area for study group with a view towards possible later group practice. Serious inquiries only please. It would be preferable if those inquiring have already been involved/studying Paganism or the Craft for at least a year or two, in order to avoid the kinks that go along with the great but occasionally cumbersome enthusiasm of new Pagans in the "red hot" phase. This could be a good group for those looking to recommit to a Pagan path, or for those who have maintained or fallen back on a solitary practice. No minors, please. The gamut of subjects listed below is to give the curious an idea what kind of direction this study group may take:
WICCA -Source material and inspiration (Leland, Graves, British cunning craft) behind core of modern witchcraft.
-Foundations of modern witchcraft (Gardner, Valiente, New Forest, etc.) and examinations of them (Philip Heselton, Ronald Hutton, etc.)
-Exploring the finer points of traditional Wiccan ritual procedure
-Links of 8 sabbats to other common European folk holidays
-Debate/Discussion on validity of degree-ordered hierarchy of initiation
-Craft ethics in a frame of greater moral reference
-Linking the nature of European agricultural festivals to a Montanan Wheel of the Year
other PAGANISM
-Celtic Mythology (Taliesin, Ulster Cycle, Fenian Cycle, etc)
-Influence of Celtic festivals on modern Paganism (as indicated by Coligny Calendar, etc.)
-Norse Mythology (Eddas, Heimskringla)
-Influence of Norse customs on folk traditions of areas of Viking settlement
-the pros and cons of varying degrees of eclecticism (controversial)
-Hellenic Paganism and its influence on both western thought and the nature of modern Paganism
-Discordianism and the notion of a "western Zen"
These are just a list of starters, to give an idea. Fairly open-minded, with more of an emphasis on root European traditions and practice (DISCLAIMER: emphasis on European tradition is not a racial qualifier. Anyone seeking to use Paganism as a means to prop up a racist belief system should *definitely* look elsewhere) . This is based in Missoula so most discussions will probably be hosted between downtown coffee shops and the University. Contact me at CCopelandFMZ@hotmail.com for information on meetings and discussions. Blessed be-
FFS
