Shining Grove Sanctuary

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Asheville / Hot Springs, North Carolina
Key Contact: Stone

Spiritual Path: Megalithic Circle Sanctuary
Status: Group Forming
Community Support: Teaching Available

Group Overview: Located in the beautiful highlands of North Carolina, Shining Grove Sanctuary offers 4 acres dedicated to providing a private environment for the study and expression of nature based spiritual practices and esoteric studies. It is now home to a full stone circle and in time, an earth-lodge, pyramid and psychomantium. I may offer informal teaching at this moment, mainly Shining Grove Sanctuary is a place other teachers and students may use where appropriate. The present incarnation of this listing serves as a contact nexus for supporters and volunteers of Shining Grove who wish to meet and share ideas, experiences and insights.
A nearly sound proof earth-lodge is under construction so that drumming and any other manner of practice may be enjoyed in privacy. Shining Grove is open to general study and practice of any tradition allied to the personal development of its members and spiritual evolution of our planet. The Grounds and the Earth Lodge will help provide an area of contemplation and practice for like minded folk.
Once construction has commenced I will activate the web-site to show how things are progressing.
It will take considerable amount of work to transform the property. I am in need of a person or two to assist me periodically as I have significant restrictions due to some old injuries and arthritis. If you are someone who likes to get out, get their hands dirty and support such a cause, I humbly accept the assistance.
While it is nice to think we can wiggle our noses and poof things appear, generally I have found that the best results and rewards come from hard work, pursuing a vision with dedication and discipline. Having helped in similar endeavors years back I can testify to the difference in feeling from visiting a spiritual place and creating a spiritual place. The later had more roots and pride. This sanctuary is for our community. You can help make it grow and serve.
We love the smell of the pines, flowers and the earth at Shining Grove, therefore smoking is discouraged although an area will be provided if you must. Shining Grove is drug free. Also due to increased interest in the Sanctuary and in honor of those wishing to use the facilities a $60.00 deposit is required to hold a spot for a group. At the end of your gathering you may donate all or part of the deposit to help support the grounds for future service, thank you. Work and materials trade are considered as well for donations
May you walk in strength and beauty,
Stone
Addendum: 6/2016
Robert Lowe Greetings community,
Recently I have received some interest from folks wishing to help out at Shining Grove! This is most welcome. This post is to outline what projects are in need of attention and completion. At present, the grounds may be more suited for adults, as it is much like a construction zone with nails and equipment hazardous to children. This can be reevaluated at a later time. The Grove is drug and alcohol free, with designated smoking away from the main areas. Bless you for understanding.
First the grounds need to be cleaned up! Then the list bellow.
1. Finish guest cottage
2. Apply finish coat of stucco to earth lodge and paint.
3. Complete storage shed and clean out the earth lodge.
4. Dig and pour concrete support piers for tiny hose/addition.
5. Dig and pour concrete piers for outdoor kitchen deck.
6. Erect deck for outdoor kitchen.
7. Build floor for addition.
8. If funds permit, put metal roof on earth lodge before winter.
9. Miscellaneous painting, garden preparation for next year, etc.
So there is the outline of needed focus to bring the Grove to operation. I want to complete the guest cottage first to allow extended stay opportunities for those dedicated to volunteering for more than a day. It will have a comfy loft, a counter with a two burner stove, a studio sized fridge, storage for clothes, and a reading chair inside. We will also build a port potty for guest while using the toilet inside the camper until completion.
Waiting until the place is just so or just that until help is requested is no longer wise. The time is now. As some of you know I have a few health problems and unfortunately I was recently hospitalized and a Cerebral Aneurysm was detected. It is profoundly important that I find more communal ways to complete this project and do not attempt to finish it myself. With few exceptions that is what I have been doing and it has cost me injury. If I could go full bore like I used to then I would, but now is the time to make the Sanctuary ready for you all to use. So I humbly invite those willing to come out and donate some time insuring the Grove serves as it is intended.
A dedication ceremony will start the days efforts, blessing the workers and the land. The fare may be simple but you will be fed and given fresh spring water. Thank you all for your interest and please call or IM me here. Thank you. Stone
