Group Overview: We very recently relocated to the Morrisville area and are interested in meeting families that have preschool-aged children or young homeschoolers in order to possibly create a play/field trip group. If you have interest in some type of parent support, child care co-op, or "babysitting", that may be an option in the future as well.
Our daughter is 4.5. She loves art/crafts, nature/playing outside, books, faeries, puzzles, dramatic play, music/movement, and board games. I have a special "soft spot" for preemies, because she was 10.5 weeks early and had to endure three months in the NICU, numerous specialists, and being on oxygen at home. I am a 15+ year vegetarian, artist/crafter, eclectic in spirituality, and currently a stay-at-home-mom hoping to homeschool at least through Kindergarten. My husband is a computer geek (among other things) . We have two indoor cats.

I have been certified by the American Red Cross in CPR (Adult, Child, and Infant) and Standard First Aid, and I have received Infant/Toddler Safe Sleep & SIDS Risk Reduction Training within the past year. In the past, I have also completed Playground Safety Training and have been a volunteer for programs that work with and on the behalf of children. I am in the process of a 4-year degree completion program in Early Care & Education, and I have recently completed a Special Education Certificate. I also have an AAS degree in Early Childhood Education and several other related certificates. I have worked in three NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited child development centers, one of which was for the Department of Defense. I have worked as a lead teacher, teacher assistant, co-teacher, resource teacher, children's literature specialist, habilitation technician/community skills instructor, and co-op classroom parent. My experience has been with children aged from birth to 12 years old in settings including preschool, school-age summer day camp, day care, child development lab school, elementary school, home health/Medicaid programs, and state funded PreK. I have worked briefly with ESL children, children with special physical needs, and children with learning & developmental disabilities.
As you can see, I have a variety of experiences with many different types of families and children with varying abilities. Being from eastern NC, I know how difficult it can be to find people that do not frown upon you if you are a little different in some way, don't go to church regularly, or don't sign your child up for every sport available. I'm just hoping to find playmates and a little adult conversation as well.
