Group Overview: Merrymeet Coven Oldenwilde of Asheville, N.C -- a 501 (c) (3) religious non-profit established on Samhain 1994.
Founded by international authors Lady Passion and *Diuvei (The Goodly Spellbook: Olde Spells for Modern Problems) , Coven Oldenwilde is comprised of serious Craft students and Initiates of all ages, races, genders, and backgrounds.
High Priestess Lady Passion & *Diuvei teach a vibrant blend of experiential Italian and formal Gardnerian magic. Their Gardnerian Lineage dates back to 1071. (Inner Court classes for those studying to be Initiates on alternative Fridays at their Covenstead in West Asheville.)
Magical experts, they educate folks about the beauty, antiquity, and validity of magic in daily life via film projects, T.V. series, radio interviews, and lectures to college classes, groups, and Gatherings.
Legal clergy, the couple officiate rites of passage and marriages/Handfastings, secure magical, medical and legal rights for Wiccans worldwide, and have conducted an annual free public Samhain Sabbat attended by thousands nationwide each since Halloween 1995.
Spiritual activists, Lady Passion and *Diuvei got the 53 year-old anti-divination law N.C. 14-401.5 repealed in 2004 -- freeing Witches statewide to foretell the future in whatever manner they wish.
Spokes-Witches, the pair are frequently interviewed in print (Washington Post) , radio (BBC, NPR, Paranormal Paradigm Radio) , TV (CNN, etc.) , and their appearance is highly sought after by TV studios (Universal, Sci-Fi) , production companies (A. Smith & Co., L.A., Trafford Media, England) , and series (Extra!, and Finding America) .
