Group Overview: The Quiver of Eros is a Sacred Sexuality discussion group centered in Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa. The name of the temple has its inspiration in the story of the Greek god, Eros, who's arrows are famed to awaken passion in those pricked by them.
The highly symbolic story of Eros and Psyche tells the story of our awakenings to sexuality, passing through the fears, recognitions, trials, and eventual revelations that erotic love (Eros) brings to each of us.
The Quiver of Eros is the public face of the Temple of the Awakening Soul, which is currently in its initial phase of development. It seeks to bring together three classes of people:
1) Professionals who work in the area of sexual healing and education. Sex therapists, dakas & dakinis, tantric educators, etc...
2) Professionals who work in the sex trade, who see their practice as having a sacred element to it.
3) Clergy who work in the realm of sacred sexuality as a part of a greater spiritual practice.
What unites us, is that we all share at least something of a vision...
...of reclaiming sex from the dark world of scandal and shame.
...of proclaiming that sex is GOOD... that, rather than the Original
Sin, it is a gift from the Divine... a spark from the Gods.
...of healing our culture from a mentality that says a woman's
sexuality and fertility belongs to men.
...of healing individuals of the wounds caused by sexual abuse,
whether the abuse was actual sexual assault or the emotional abuse
caused by shaming surrounding sexuality.
...of restoring dignity and respect to sex work and sex workers.
...of educating people about the power of sex to not only bring
pleasure to the body, or bring closeness with one's partner, but also
to exalt the spirit, and fuel magickal intent.
...of healing the female psyche from five millennia of patriarchy.
...of healing the male psyche from five millennia of patriarchy.
...of bringing honor to the Gods through "sex as sacrament" in worship.
Also, though our topics of discussion are 'adult', we are not pornographic in nature, nor a place to seek casual sex or to find a sex partner. We are a 'spiritual group', who's focus is the sacredness of sex (NOT a 'sex group' comprised of spiritual people) .
