Concord UU Earth Centered Spirituality Group
Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Concord, New Hampshire
Key Contact: Lorraine
Spiritual Path: Eclectic Pagan
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles...
Group Overview: We are an eclectic group that honors both the Female and Male Divine in a variety of forms, and finds spiritual enrichment in attuning to the earth and the natural world. We welcome those seeking their own path and who need a place to express their spirituality in an open, friendly environment.
The purpose of the group is to provide an opportunity for worship, networking, education and socialization for individuals who follow or have an interest in pagan, neo-pagan, reconstructionist, earth-centered or nature-based religions. Our members span the range of spiritual and magical paths.
Newcomers to the path are welcome.
This group is always open to the public. New members (and browsers) are welcome at any time, and you do not need to be an official member to participate in rituals and other public events. We meet publicly for each of the eight seasonal celebrations (called Sabbats by some) and occasionally at other times for a mix of ritual, networking, education and business.
Members have an opportunity to meet monthly for private ritual, spiritual development, and socialization.
For those interested, membership in the group is attained by:
First: Attending at least two rituals so that you know what we're all about, and that you want to be a part of our group.
Then (in any order) : Helping out with the planning and presentation of two of our public rituals; and attending a brief orientation meeting with the membership committee to talk about who we are, our bylaws, and why we do things the way we do.
After becoming a member, membership is maintained by leading one ritual or assisting with two per year.
It is important to understand that this group is not a coven! There are no degrees of priest (ess) hood, there is no formal initiation process, and we do not follow or teach any one tradition, though we do sometimes honor a particular tradition from time to time. We occupy a middle ground between solitary practice and the formality and commitment of a coven.
We are very fortunate to be associated with the Concord Unitarian Universalist church, which has a lovely grove for outdoor ritual in good weather. The Concord UU also provides us with places to have ritual indoors when outdoors just isn't an option.
Attention minors! We believe that parents have the right and responsibility to guide the religious education of their children. If you are under 18, you must bring your parent or guardian with you so that we know it's ok for you to attend.
Our website, listed below, has an up to date listing of public events. By visiting the site you can also sign up on a mailing list to receive announcements about the group's activities.
