Group Overview: Established on Lammas 2002, Temple of the Azure Lotus is a Neo-Egyptian tradition coven based in Rochester, NY. Our path is a blending of Wicca, Qabala, and Tameran beliefs. TotAL is a third generation coven having hived off from the Lodge of Isis, and tracing its lineage to the Sisters of the Willow Moon. As a group, and individually, it is our covenant to spiritually enrich our lives and the lives of those we touch, to willingly share our knowledge with those who honestly seek to learn, and to foster community in all forms. Temple of the Azure Lotus accepts petitions for dedication into the coven between Imbolc and Beltane of each year. For more information about membership and classes please check our website www.azurelotus.org .

Philosophy:

What is a coven?
A coven is a working magickal group. Although a coven may fulfill many different roles, it's ultimate purpose is to serve the God and the Goddess.

Temple of the Azure Lotus works to achieve this purpose through four primary areas of focus: Divine Connection, Education/Training, Celebration, and Support.

* Divine Connection *
We view Wicca as an Initiatory path. A spirituality that focuses on discovering the Mysteries. The Mysteries can not be taught or granted by a degree system. They are an outcome of our connection with Divinity...our work with the God and the Goddess. As a part of our spiritual growth, each member actively engages in building his/her relationship with the Divine, and seeks out the pathways that lead to experiencing the Mysteries.

* Education/Training *
Temple of the Azure Lotus believes that education and training are an integral part of spiritual growth and magickal development. Although we are an Egyptian based coven, our degree program incorporates practices and philosophies from various spiritual paths.

We strongly encourage our members to seek training outside of TotAL, and will occasionally recommend particular conferences and workshops that we have found to be spiritually enriching. However, all AWS courses are taught internally and are taught free of charge. TotAL degree candidates may be required to pay for materials, or on rare occasions asked to purchase a recommended book, but they will never be charged tuition.

That being said, it is our tradition to ask that our Wicca I & II students make a wish list denotation to a pre-determined area charity. These donations are budget friendly and the size of the donation is determined by the student.

* Celebration *
We honor the God and the Goddess by observing the Wheel of the Year and the Tides of the Moon. We strive to experience the Cycle of Life and its joys and sorrows as one of the pathway to the Mysteries. We view the eight Sabbats as a continuous cycle, not as individual holidays. Each Sabbat fulfills the dreams/gifts/blessings of the previous and invokes it's own purpose through our ritual celebrations.

We attune ourselves to the ebb and flow of the Moon's tides through Esbat rituals and Dark/New Moon Meditations. We view the Full Moon as a time of magickal and psychic exploration, and the Dark/New Moon as a time of study and inward focus.

* Support *
As a group, and individually, it is our covenant to spiritually enrich our lives and the lives of those we touch, to willingly share our knowledge with those who genuinely and honestly seek to learn, and to foster community in all forms.
