Shadowfolk Tradition- The Temple of the Spiral Path

Status: Established Group

Group Overview: The Temple of the Spiral Path consists of the study groups and covens - Strangers' Gate and North Wyldewood- dedicated to practicing the Shadowfolk Tradition of Witchcraft, founded in 1995.

The Shadowfolk Tradition honors the artistic soul of the Old Religion and celebrates our connection to the Old Ones through ritual music, transformative storytelling, poetry, and many other art forms. (Some of our past rituals have incorporated mask-making, performance art, garland-making, candle carving, and more.) Devotion to the Lord and Lady is expressed through ritual, communion with the natural world, and drawing upon the magickal creative abilities inherent in everyone.

Our tradition places a strong emphasis on scholarship and life-long learning, which is reflected in our rituals and community offerings. Whenever possible, we draw inspiration through critical examination of primary sources and academic commentaries. A special focus is placed on the contributions of the Irish and Norse folkloric traditions to modern Witchcraft. Our work, however, is never limited to these influences; Our covens explore the rich tapestry of the Western Mystery Traditions within a Wiccan framework.

We are strongly committed to providing excellent instruction to those seeking the Wiccan Way and the Western Mystery Traditions. We offer several intensive Wiccan courses, including the 7-month Shadowfolk Grove: First Steps on the Spiral Path (open to all) and the Hearthfire course (by invitation only) in Manhattan. We also mount Wheel of the Year sabbat rituals which are open to the public. (Please see the event listings on our website for dates in 2018.)

The Temple is also dedicated to public service, reflecting the spirit of our community-minded Pagan Ancestors. Past community service projects have included successful canned food and annual gift collection drives, on-going work with local nursing and long-term care facilities, as well as beach and park clean-ups. As preservers and walkers of the Path, we are dedicated to growing our Priesthood and serving our wider community through ritual, education, and celebration.
