Coven of the Sacred Star

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Brooklyn, New York
Key Contact: Sparrow

Spiritual Path: The Gala Tradition of Witchcra
Status: Group Forming
Community Support: Teaching Available

Group Overview: The Gala Tradition of Witchcraft combines Wiccan teachings with the Male Mysteries as seen from a Gay Male perspective. We come together with the shared intention of fostering unity, support, and healing for the gay community. We aim to create and strengthen the spiritual bonds of brotherhood that have sustained gay and bisexual men for centuries by observing 8 Sabbats and 13 full moons (among other things) .

As for myself I am an artist with a deep appreciation for the city-life and urban witchery. I moved to New York three and a half years ago and am now at a place where I am looking for students, and more importantly, the family that a coven can provide. As a High Priest, I focus on helping my students to connect with their own concept of Deity. As a coven, we work in a traditional Wiccan degree system, but we are not stuck with only one way to do things. Some personal focuses I enjoy would be divination, shielding, and healing magic (a la Appalachian Granny Magic) though the coven is about sharing our experiences and interests and growing as a group together. Ideally we will be a small to medium sized coven growing and working together to thrive in the rat race that is NYC. They say if you can survive here you can survive anywhere, lets use our talents and magic to help us along, as a family.

I am looking for students in Brooklyn/Manhattan area (though students outside of these boroughs could be accepted on a case by case basis) who are looking to fulfill a spiritual need. We will generally every other week to discuss coven business and for general group building activities, once a month for the full moon, on the eight Sabbats this time commitment is essential. Please note that I do not ascribe to “Pagan Standard Time” and expect prompt attendance. I generally will not accept students under the age of 25. If you are looking for a place where you can feel nurtured and supported by like-minded individuals, this may be the place for you. Our coven seeks to build close-knit bonds of love and trust with each other.
