Group Overview: Most of us attended Nina of Earth Song Herbal's Wicca 101 class in 1998 and then her Wicca 102 in 1999. After the last class, some of us didn't want to stop meeting, so we formed our own coven.
We still have 6 of our origional members of 8, but are currently holding at 9 local active members and two members on sabbatical out of state. We've discussed adding new members, but wish to do so carefully as we cherish the closeness we've developed over the years. Our origional goal was not to exceed 13, and we did once and felt it was just too many, as we don't wish to lose the close sense of trust we've developed. Still, we enjoy meeting others, and since others have contacted us, we have considered putting together a Pagan study group with no quantity limit; also we do invite guests to our Ostara rite; if interested contact us!
We meet monthly, either celebrating a Sabbat holiday or for an Esbat for healing or other ritual. Any member is welcome to plan and facilitate our gatherings, although usually one of a few of our members do this as we don't pressure anyone not comfortable with leading to do so. Still, everyone is involved in creating Sacred Space, inviting the Elementals, Dieties and other spirits, and we plan for everyone's participation in our gatherings, as they are comfortable. We try to have as many of our rites completely unscripted as we've found this allows for wild and creative Magick to happen! We also often meet for non-ritual fun stuff, like meals, picnics, Ren Fair....we're always open to ideas!
We're a deeply spiritual group but oh, so, way not overly serious, we love to have fun and laugh and on occaison we have humorous rituals, like our Ostara Chocolate Sabbat!!! I guess what we mean is, no one viewing our rituals could ever mistake it for being in church!
While we do have a High Priest, we're not hierarchical in that no one accepts any authority nor do we recognize degrees, although we certainly don't fault those groups who do, we just feel comfortable and fell naturally into this structure, or rather, lack of!
We meet at different member's homes in Yellow Springs, Xenia and Middletown. Usually around a fire in nice weather.........OoooOooooooo, fire good!
