Group Overview: The Coven of Caer Arianrhod
The Coven of Caer Arianrhod is a British Traditional Wiccan coven (of the American Celtic tradition) that values the rich history of the modern Craft while also embracing personal evolution, as well as the evolution of modern Witchcraft as a whole. We seek this evolution through the mastery of both Traditional Witchcraft and the Art and Science of Magick. We are a teaching coven, and believe that a well-rounded occult education can provide the basis for a lifetime of spiritual, mystical, and magickal discovery.

We see no artificial separation between "high" and "low" magicks, and seek to use the full spectrum of methods, from the sympathetic to the ceremonial, in our pursuit of the alchemy (evolution) of the spirit. We are also a deeply mystical group, always seeking a greater knowledge of, and a closer relationship to, the Gods and Goddesses we know/have known.

Unlike some other "Brit Trads" you may have heard of, we do not seek to isolate ourselves, but instead take part in our wildly diverse local communities.

While we use a three degree system, we do not see the degrees as signs of "better" or "lesser" Witches, but merely as markers of experience within the Tradition. We approach training within the Coven/Trad with the "master/apprentice" model: yes, at the beginning, those who lead do have more knowledge/experience within the Trad than the students. However, this is but a temporary situation, in that the true goal for any teacher is for the student to become their equal, and even surpass them in knowledge and ability...for this is how the Craft grows and matures. Rising in the degrees does not equal the attainment of "stature" and "privilages", but in the aquiring of experience and the taking on of responsibilites within the group.

Are we open to new people? Well, while we have a bustling outer court at the moment, we are always open to considering making space for those with a passion for the Craft, a dedication to learning, a desire to evolve, and who are unafraid of a little hard work. In fact, if you view the never-ending task of making oneself a better and well-rounded Witch as a labour of love, so much the better! Of course, working with a group is as much a matter of personal chemistry as are desire and dedication, so perhaps the correct answer is: for the right people, the door is always open. And if someone isn't quite right for the group, we hope to at least make a new friend...we could all use more of those!
