Group Overview: Pacific Northwest Gaia Scouts Circle of the Red Moon-Troup #1 A path of ancient mysteries for maidens of magickal intent For the cunning and wise-based in the Old Faery tradition.
Gaia Scouts is a school year long-once a month-four hour class taught by adults Victoria Gill and her assistant, Amy Bean FOR girls ages 12-15.
This unique form of scouts holds true to the ways of the magickal heart and mind of young women (ages 12-15) . Gaia Scouts is an outcropping of a class called, Faery Scouts (ages 9-11) which began in 1999 in Olympia, Washington. Two new groups of Faery Scouts followed in Portland, Oregon; one in 2005 and one in 2010. The 2010 Faery Scouts, Troup #3 is still in session. There is a group for the little ones (ages 6-8) called, Pixie Scouts. Gaia Scouts begins on Sunday (to assist those with Saturday conflicts) , September 16th, 2012. The class runs from 1-5. Payment options available upon request. Ten young women accepted.
What is a Gaia Scout? A Gaia Scout is involved in a series of teachings that follows the ancient ways of the Goddess and addresses the magick that dwells in a young maiden’s body-mind and spirit. It is a path that works with the Old Druid and Faery tradition. As a girl enters and lives her teen years, there are overwhelming challenges that face a girl of this age. Gaia Scouts provide a safe place to honor the goddess within-to honor herself and others and the earth (Gaia) upon which she stands. Gaia Scouts also provides an opportunity to learn to sit at the feet of wise women and men and to learn the ways of those who have walked before her, especially her elders. I would like you as a magickal guardian in her life to join me in this wisdom circle. The following are some of the areas of study that will be covered in this 10 month long time spent with your daughter.
♦The Great Faery Circle ♦Tools of magic ♦ The five sacred directions ♦Silver Faery branch ♦Druid Wheel of the Year and holidays ♦Spirit dolls ♦Magickal symbols and ancient alphabets ♦Ancient goddesses ♦History of the Faery linage ♦Magickal broom ♦Guardian totems and animals ♦Study of herbs ♦Guided journeys ♦Personal sacred temple ♦Name blessing ♦Bard work ♦Working with Faery allies ♦Protection work ♦Druid Tree oracle (Ogham) ♦Meet your dragons ♦Blood mysteries ♦Moon mysteries ♦Mother-line ■And more
Each scout meeting, the girls will make and create wonderful magickal projects such as wands-spirit dolls-paper mache skulls-dragon pendants-ancient alphabet scrolls-a secret book-goddess work-a broom (for sweeping out the negative) -bard invocations and poetry work-etc. They will have ‘nine doors of the adept’ to move through (magickal accomplishments) and subsequently receive a Faery Crest or charm for their mantle (sash) . The girls will need a cloak and cap along with a mantle of any color of choice but must be lined in red for Circle of the Red Moon. This is the official Gaia Scout uniform. In traditional Girl Scouts, teachers and helpers are called, Den Mothers. In Gaia Scouts, we are Cottage Grandmothers, Cottage Mothers and Cottage Tenders (helper) . There is a passage ceremony as the conclusion of the scout year in June that includes all girls who are: returning to Gaia Scouts-moving on to other interests or finishing their four years (special initiation) .
