Group Overview: WHEREAS thousands of Pagan men and women have served and are serving the United States of America in the Armed Forces;
AND WHEREAS the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, created to aid and assist veterans of the US Armed Forces, has demonstrated its unwillingness to aid and assist Pagan veterans
AND WHEREAS the various veterans organization currently existing in the United States such as The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and others are heavily grounded in Christianity in their rituals, prayers and practices;
AND WHEREAS Pagan veterans are largely made to feel excluded by these veterans organizations;
AND WHEREAS all veterans need and deserve the support of one another, both individually and through a strong national organization created to serve them and their needs;
BE IT KNOWN that such an organization, Pagan Veterans of the USA is formed by an ad hoc group of Pagan veterans to serve these individuals and their needs, and that membership in this organization is open to any and all members of the US Army, US Navy, US Marine Force, US Air Force and US Coast Guard possessing an honorable or general discharge.
25 GOALS OF PVUSA
1. Inform the general public of the service and sacrifice of Pagans who have or are serving in the Armed Forces of the United States
2. Serve as an example of what Paganism really is and the contribution Pagan veterans have and continue to make to American life
3. Educate the Pagan community in regard to Pagans in the military and Pagan veterans
4. Serve an a source of information on the needs and desires of veterans and active duty Pagans to elected officials and civil servants at all levels
5. Seek to secure recognition of the sacrifices of Pagan veterans and their families
6. Provide a source of camaraderie for Pagan veterans
7. Represent Pagan veterans generally before the US Department of Veterans Affairs
8. Represent Pagan veterans to other veterans’ organizations
9. Visit Pagan veterans in hospitals, care facilities, prisons or any other institution where our services may be of benefit
10. Help in any way we can, the physical needs of Pagan veterans and their families
11. Aid, to the best of our ability, our sister and brother veterans deal with substance abuse
12. Actively encourage the support of all members for one another; socially, morally, physically and financially
13. Provide scholarships to the children of deceased Pagan veterans
14. Serve as a repository for living wills and other such documents which specifically request a headstone for a deceased Pagan veteran with a Pagan emblem of belief
15. Represent Pagan veterans and families of veterans seeking to have Pagan emblems of belief recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs
16. Represent the families of deceased Pagan veterans seeking to have a headstone with a Pagan Emblem of belief to be provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs
17. Provide an Honor Guard at the funerals of deceased Pagan veterans
18. Provide family friendly events where Pagan veterans and their families, as well as Pagans serving on active duty and their families, can meet and socialize
19. Meet whatever needs we can of Pagans currently serving in the Armed Forces
20. Sponsor Spiral Scout troops and other Pagan youth groups
21. Provide support for various general community events
22. Encourage respect for all those who have served in the Armed Forces
23. Assist other group which recognize and respect the sacrifice that Pagan veterans have made
24. When requested, be available to provide safety and security for Pagan events
25. To offer an alternative, safe place and group of comrades to listen to us, advise us, and generally help us keep it together
