Group Overview: OakShade was created on Ostara in 1998. Our purpose is to offer a Pagan Path for those who have the discipline and desire to follow a neo-pagan concept in the spirit of the “Old Ways.” The base line we use is Celtic in the larger sense of the word even though we value the many pantheons and mythologies throughout the world. Our philosophy is that Divinity is immanent in the world, nature, and each one of us. Therefore each individual is a Goddess/ God in their own right. With that in mind, OakShade’s main goal is the spiritual development of our member’s inner divinity. We take a scholarly approach to learning of the path and focus on the healing arts to heal oneself, the land and others when and where we can. As a coven, we have built our practices starting with the works of the likes of Gerald Gardner, Doreen Valinte and others created some 60 years ago in England. We took their great work and built upon it, molding it to whom and what we are. However, as we learn from experience we will not hesitate to make changes if there is a legitimate reason. We aim to enact our laws with purpose and reasoning, not with blind faith in the traditions of our lineage. With a strong foundation built by members past and present we will continue to grow and develop as the Gods guide us.
