Orenda Circle

Age Range/Type: Family
Located in: Erwin, Tennessee
Key Contact: Rev. Edward D. Allen

Spiritual Path: Eclectic Wiccan
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: On June 29, 2000, we formed an Eclectic Wiccan/Pagan Open Circle in Johnson City, Tennessee, under Congregational Agreement #16270, granted to us by the Universal Life Church, headquartered in Modesto, California. We initiated our Wiccan/Pagan Open Circle to attract those of various Pagan paths and all other interested parties to act as a networking hub of many hubs within the greater Tri-Cities area and beyond.

In December of 2001, Rev. Allen, acting in the capacity of co-priest with Laurel Owen, an Elder of The Covenant of the Goddess began assisting with a prison outreach ministry in Tennessee in conjunction with others of like mind within the local Pagan community. Both Sabbat and Esbat rituals for those inmates who are interested have been held with great success. Rev. Kathy Neely took over for Laurel at Ostara, 2002 and both she and Rev. Allen continue to conduct Sabbats on a regular basis. Rev. Allen and his wife, Rev. Penny Ann Allen have continued this endeavor beginning since Ostara, 2008. In January 2008, we decided to slowly begin teaching our Ecclectic Wiccan Tradition to others on a very selective basis and on a one-on-one basis only at the present time. May the Goddess and God lend their aid to our new endeavors.

It is our most profound hope to foster continued interfaith dialogue within the community at large and to expand into a non-profit, tax exempt entity, serving the communities needs as they are made apparent to us. We are also members and affiliates of our Parent Coven, Dragon Palm Circle, an Eclectic Teaching Coven, located in Sevierville, Tennessee, Associate Members of The Church of The Sacred Garden and members of The Interfaith Alliance, a National organization of various religious faiths.

We currently have 3 members who are ordained ministers of the Universal Life Church: Rev. Edward D. Allen, D. D. , Rev. Penny A. Allen, Rev. Kathy Neely, and Paul Hamby who is our Scribe. Rev. Allen is also an ordained minister of The Church of Seven Planes. Two of our members have also been listed as "Clergy" with the Mountain States Health Alliance, a consortium of 14 hospitals located in N. E. Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia to be called upon if requested by Wiccan/Pagan patients since October of 1999.

Together, we will gather both the knowledge and expertise for a continuation of exploring ourselves and the Universe as an autonomous extension of our Parent Home Coven, Dragon Palm Circle, http://dragonpalmcircle.org .

Bright Blessings Through Her,

Rev. Edward D. Allen (Medicine Hawk)
Rev. Penny A. Allen (Small Stone )
Paul S. Hamby (Pax)
