Group Overview: We are a Wiccan Priest and Priestess (3rd degrees) interested in taking students-- we welcome serious inquiries from local pagans who would like somewhat old-school training and are not afraid of some reading and work. We also offer a study circle for discussion, face-to-face ritual, and a relaxed, personalized version of Outer Court training.
Our Tradition, Lineage, and Influences:
Our tradition split from a Gardnerian line in New Jersey in the 1970s, before our Priest (Liam) was initiated in 1975. He worked in that coven until taking 3rd degree in 1978; moved, worked with his then-partner, and joined a coven of elders in the 1980s.
I (Calesta) had been studying magic, mythology and eclectic witchcraft for some time when I met Liam in the late 1990s. I was initiated in 2001 and took 3rd in 2004 (I think I'm remembering the date right) ; we've worked as partners and taught a little since then, while also being involved in eclectic pagan activities.
We have some very old-fashioned ideas and materials, but we do not offer unbroken lineage (see above-- we are not Gardnerian, although we may be close) , nor do we sacrifice the autonomy of the coven to any tradition's politics. If you're looking for a group that has a bit more structure and is "closer to the bone" than most eclectic Wiccan groups, we may be what you're looking for.
MEN, WOMEN, and COUPLES are all welcome, and we prefer a gender balance for the group. Any sexual orientation may be welcome, but you must be willing to do magical and religious work with those of both sexes. You do need to be within easy driving distance of Memphis, TN-- training can be supplemented via e-mail or phone, but coven work will be in person.
