Willow Grove

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Kingsport, Tennessee
Key Contact: Willow Key

Spiritual Path: Eclectic Wicca
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: Merry Meet and Welcome!

I have named this group Willow Grove. The Willow Tree has Celtic associations with the Moon and Magick. A Grove is a sacred place in the woods surrounded by trees. Druids use the term Grove instead of Coven, and a Grove is also a Wiccan term for an "Outer Court" study group, or an informal coven.

Update: Now that Willow Grove has been established successfully for a full year, we have students who have met the requirements for Initiation. This means Willow Grove is no longer a new is established and formed with a structured Tradition. We have a full Coven membership, yet we are open to new members. We will continue to be a teaching and training coven.

The coven structure will be slightly informal. Yet ALL members upon acceptance will be expected to share in the work and responsibilities of maintaining the coven.

The Energies of any group, new or established, are determined by the participating members. Both involvement and non-involvement affects the group as a whole. This is why it can be hard to be accepted by an established group.

If you are not accepted to be part of this coven, please do not be offended. This only means this specific group is probably not the right one for you; there is most likely another one that will be a better fit.

About myself: Originally, I am from Los Angeles, and I was raised with a family tradition of occutlism on both sides. I was taught all kinds of magical and occultic studies before I was in preschool, that continued for all of my life until today. My father is now a Southern Baptist Minister. I am from a Southern Family, even though I grew up in California. My mother and her family are from Texas. My father's dad's family is from Mississippi, and his mother is directly from Scotland. On both sides of my family, I have a very strong heritage from the British Isles, and what I will be teaching you is part of my family's heritage. If we were to take the Baptist out of my family completely, we would have what is obviously a Wiccan or Druidic family bloodline. On my father's side, our family name means "From the Oak Grove" which is another term for a Druid Priest. On my mother's side of the family, we have been Scribes keeping records since 600 AD and the name means "Honey Keepers."

I discovered Wicca when I was 15 years old in the 1980s, or rather I discovered that Wicca was the name to what I believed and had been practicing all my life. I met my first High Priest when I was 16 years old, but I had to earn acceptance into the covens I trained with after I was an adult. At the age of 23, while serving in the Army, I began teaching and leading a coven. I was appointed as a High Priestess by my teacher at that time. I am not a self-proclaimed High Priestess; I was trained and initiated as such. I developed my own Tradition named Starlight in 1997, when I was 26. Starlight eventually was recognized as a legal church in 2000. I retired from leading Starlight as a church in 2012. In those years, I taught and led all ages, including families with children. The Initiates I trained all went on to lead their own Covens and develop their own Traditions. I have been honored to become part of the lives and families of my students, beyond that of the coven, even to perform wedding ceremonies for their children, to bless the birth of their grandchildren, and to even be there to perform the funeral services when family members passed away.

In joining Willow Grove, you will be joining to be part of a larger whole of an established Wiccan and Pagan family. :)

I will be teaching you how to find your own ancestral roots, and why this is important.

I have found that I harmonize best with those Witches from Christian families who have retain their personal relationship with the Divine (ie: God and Jesus Christ) even if they have "grown out of" Christianity as a religion. Like my Wiccan Elders before me, I do NOT require conversion of your previous faith, beliefs, and practices. I believe it is possible to be both a Christian and a Witch (contrary to what others state.) I live my life as such. I have come to identify that Christianity is an Universal Myth, no different from Pagan Myths. The values of Christianity teach "love one another" and tolerance. This is how I am a Christian. I do not take the Bible literally, and I think it is a mistake for anyone to do so.

I used to teach "Christian Paganism" and it was the most popular class I would teach at Pagan Gatherings in Georgia and Alabama in the 1990s.

To be clear, I am NOT teaching Christianity in the guise of a Wiccan Coven. What I teach is Traditional Witchcraft and Wicca. My husband and my family are all Christian, so I do NOT tolerate Christian bashing. I am strict about tolerance and equality, so I do not allow for any form of discrimination. I have found that those raised in the Christian church have already developed important values that will be part of the Wiccan Tradition I teach, that's all. For example: the value of selfless service.

Community Service is an important value of this Coven. This will help you to be part of the greater Pagan community as a whole, including what Pagan charities and organizations you can become a part of, and why they are important. You can and will be making a positive difference your own life, and in others! :)

The lessons given will be guidelines that will largely be self-directed. What you learn will be determined by what kind of effort you chose to put forth on your own outside of the coven meetings.

We will be doing some serious magical work made Light by kind and joyful hearts, a positive attitude, gentle friendships, and a playful spirit.

I would very much like to meet you if you:

* are hoping to be part of a group working towards the greater good for all.

* wish to make a positive and constructive difference in your life and in the lives of others.

* know your unique contributions will be respected, honored, and appreciated.

*are seeking to be part of that something "more" outside of your own personal spiritual practice.

Please do NOT contact me if:

* You only want one on one instruction as an "apprentice" seeking a mentor.

* You are only wanting to learn about Wicca and join a Coven for your own personal benefit and/or to develop personal power.

* You insist on being taught the Dark Side of Magic, the Dark Goddess, etc.

* you want to start your own coven

The following are FORBIDDEN when meeting as a coven:

* drug use/ being under the influence

* skyclad worship

* sex

* illegal and unsafe activities

* being disrespectful

Some things to know beforehand:

*cigarette smoking - I am allergic to cigarette smoke. If you can be respectful and limit your smoking to outside, we do have a few members who smoke. Just the smell on your clothes can trigger an asthmatic response, so please be careful if you choose to smoke.

* alcohol - we do include the ritual use of alcoholic beverages (like wine) at certain times. We do have members under the age of 21, so remember this is NOT a party! Keep use for religious purposes only within the legal limits that would not put young adults at risk. (For example: a small glass of wine as a toast in ceremony.)

I make these guidelines to be clear as possible so that there is no misunderstanding when I am contacted about what to expect. I have been doing this a long time, and I am more interested in quality and not quantity. This will make it a positive experience for everyone involved!

Please contact me for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to meeting you!

Blessed Be!
