Living Earth Coven & Grove

Age Range/Type: Adult
Located in: Austin, Texas
Key Contact: Phoenix (Tom Davis)

Spiritual Path: Gaia Tradition of Wicca
Status: Established Group
Community Support: Open Circles... Legal Clergy... Teaching Available

Group Overview: Living Earth is the mother community of the Gaia Tradition of Wicca (see the URL below) . At the center of the community is the coven. A Gaia coven is an intimately connected group of committed witches who are emotionally mature, and comfortable enough with themselves and each other that they can bond with each other mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. It is a group in which all members are free and encouraged to be who they truly are, safely and without fear, living in perfect love and perfect trust to support each other in whatever ways are needed. In many ways, a Gaia coven is very like a group marriage.

Around the coven are the grove (those who are preparing for, or who have chosen not to undergo, coven bonding) and associates (those who feel an affinity for the principles of Gaia Wicca and Living Earth, but who are not in a position to make a deeper commitment yet) . Everyone in the community, however, is dedicated to respecting and celebrating "the four worthies" - the self, the community, our mother Earth, and the Divine, whom we see as the Goddess and God.

We meet to celebrate the 8 Sabbats and the ful-moon Esbats, as well as for training.. A year-long training class begins around Labor Day each year, with first-degree initiation "a year and a day" later. Training for coven bonding and for the second and third degrees is not so formal, but is done individually, at each individual's own pace.

If you are emotionally mature, ready to dedicate yourself to living to respect and celebrate yourself, your community, the Earth, and the Divine - and (at this point) are in the Austin, Texas, area - please go to the Gaia Tradition web site and read further. Also, feel free to contact the High Priest, Phoenix, for more information.
