Welcome to Circle of Shadow and Light, a Wiccan coven in North Arlington, Texas. We are a part of the American Tradition of the Goddess (AmTrad for short!) and teach and practice Earth Magic in circle and in our daily lives.
We honor and celebrate the Triple Goddess (Maiden, Mother, and Crone) and the Triple God (Hunter, Father and Sage) as well as all forms of life throughout the Wheel of the Year; observing the eight Sabbats, Full and New Moons, as well as both Blood Moons and Stag Moons.
We work with deities from pantheons the world over including Egyptian, Celtic, Greco-Roman, Nordic, African, American Indian, Japanese, Hindu and many others.
Above all, we seek to achieve the perfect balance within and without, for all of existence is but a harmonious mixture of light and shadow; male and female; birth and death; all moving around and through each other on all plains of being. Recognizing these ancient patterns in our own lives and learning to move with them, rather than against them, brings us closer to the Lady and Lord and gives us a stable foundation for our workings; for when one is properly fluid and aligned with the movements of the Earth, most anything is possible.
Prior to initiation, all students must first complete a Rainbow Year consisting of a year and a day, during which classes will occur twice monthly, usually every other weekend- whether Saturday or Sunday will depend on the needs of the coven at the time, however rest assured that ample notice of class dates will be provided well in advance. After completion of the Rainbow Year, the student is eligible to request initiation. Students are under no obligation to initiate into the coven, nor is the High Priestess under any obligation to grant an initiation to any particular student- only those few who truly fit within the group will be invited to become a First Degree Initiate of Circle of Shadow and Light. Lily will begin speaking with those interested in seeking study with Circle of Shadow and Light at Samhain, with classes to begin the following Imbolc. Toward the end of the student's Rainbow Year, they will be asked to work with their fellow students to write and create a public ritual celebrating one of the eight Sabbats, performed by Circle of Shadow and Light in a public arena. students are invited to attend Full Moons with the coven each month and after initiation are to attend New Moons as well. Female initiates will work with the High Priestess learning the Female Mysteries, or Blood Moons, while male initiates will delve into the Male Mysteries, or Stag Moons.
The Rainbow Year of Classes for Circle of Shadow and Light includes:
Orientation to the Tradition Ethics History of Witchcraft Tools of the Craft The Goddess in all Her Aspects The God in all His Aspects Elements and Invocations Creating Sacred Space Wheel of the Year (taught as the Sabbats occur) Runes Crystals and Stones Trees Herbs (Magical and Medicinal) Animal Magic Divination Writing and Performing Public Ritual
