Group Overview: WiseCraft is a particular type of American Traditional Witchery. It is sourced in the Joseph Bearwalker WIlson Stream of 1734 Witchcraft, of which the founding Priestess is a Virtue Holder. It has further influences based partially on the Celtic Traditional Craft, with a large element of Druidism as well as significant influences from Old Irish Family Witchcraft, Shamanism, Toteg Tribe Spirituality, and modern science, especially the theories of astrophysics and metapsychology. There are subtle but intrinsic differences in philosophy and practice between WiseCraft and other forms of American Traditional Witchcraft. Among the elements which differ are the concepts of the nature of Deity and humanity's relationship thereto, especially the connection with the Genius Locus, the cosmology and thea/theo/logy of the tradition, the relationship with the Realms Beyond including Faery and the lands of the Mighty Dead, ethical concepts including attitudes towards the Rede and the practice of magic, and triadic as opposed to dualistic thought. In addition, WiseCrafters almost always include certain Shamanistic practices in their individual spiritwalks, and there are specific Shamanistic techniques that are taught and practiced as a part of the Tradition. There is also a heavy reliance on scientific verification of those elements of magical practice (including use of psi faculties) which can be so verified, and in pursuing an academic approach to Craft in all its aspects.
The DreamRange Dynamic is the Mother Coven of the WiseCraft Tradition, located in Murray, Utah. Over the years, there have been four covens and two teaching circles established under the auspices of our Tradition, but this coven is the one which has continued the longest. We call ourselves a "Dynamic" because for us the process of covening together is about change of the Self and exponential growth of an organic kind.
We are currently reorganizing the tradition's basic tenets, and therefore we are not accepting new members at this time. When we do open, prospective members do need to know that we are a Coven of Initiates and not a suitable resource for newcomers to Witchcraft. We do, however, offer occasional public rituals, Sabbats, and classes at such venues as Salt Lake Pagan Pride Day and Aspen Grove Sabbats.
