Group Overview: There are many sacred places open to those who would worship indoors, but few places left in crowded Northern Virginia where people can meet in safety and comfort to worship outdoors among the trees and the creatures under the sky. Shadow Grove is such a place.
Located on four acres of private land in Manassas, Shadow Grove is hidden among the oaks, where two creeks meet.
It has been a magical place for us for many years. A place where we have often found a connection with the earth that goes beyond its physical beauty.
It began as a project to create a sacred space for our wedding and for our future. But during the 18 months we spent in the effort, it became clear to us that we were creating a place that was meant to be shared with others as well.
Since Samhain 2004, we have opened our doors and our Sacred Space to a growing number of like-minded people from the Northern Virginia region. For each Sabbat, we hold a gathering tailored to the season, with crafts, lessons, camping, and Circle around the bonfire after dark.
As we enter our second year as a Grove, we wish to welcome people of kind heart and open mind to join us. Our forums are a place to discuss matters of common interest to seekers across the Internet, and our Sabbat gatherings are a way for pagans in the Northern Virginia area to meet one another, learn, and grow.
