Group Overview: Arratu is a tradition that has its basis in ancient Sumer. We do not practice the same religion that the Sumerians did but we do base ours in their myths, patterns and ideas that men and women were partners, different but equal in importance to the very nature of creation and development.This religion is therefore neither truly ancient nor is it new. It is a blend of both. We have our roots in the earliest history of Sumer when men and women were part of a truly interdependent universe. Our celebrations are focused on the joy that life brings and are traditional in nature. Our pantheon is the 57 sumerian deities but it is not limited to those gods and goddesses. We believe that there should be a personal deity, a family deity, a group deity in addition to the ultimate creator. Our canon and dogma are open and the only secrets our tradition has are those that the Universe has for all of us.
