Group Overview: SCOD, The Sustainable Cooperative for Organic Development was founded in 2000 as an Architectural Thesis project. The integrative theories were founded by a group of college students known as the “Pipe Dream Pub”. They designed for a future community with an emphasis on organic independence. To them this meant establishing architecture on a site that could provide as much as possible for the living requirements of its owners, yet be open to a friendly network of outsiders. A medieval commune set in the future. The triadic design had three primary features: The Pub, The Gardens, & The Dwellings. The “Pipe Dream Pub” is still alive and well, and evolves through SCOD.
