The Genocide Prevention Ritual

April is Genocide Prevention Month, and we are organizing a worldwide ritual to honor it. This is an interfaith event consisting of numerous rituals held all over the world throughout the month of April. Individuals and groups hold local rituals to raise awareness and funds. The ritual is simple, and can be worked into any liturgical or celebratory style. It has three phases:
1. Time to Remember - reflecting on tragedies past and those lost
2. Time to Awaken - bringing attention to current areas of concern where atrocities are happening right now
3. Time to Act - symbolic action. An arrangement of flowers, all of one kind, are displayed and ritually cut down to represent the wholesale slaughter of a people. This is followed by a moment of silence and a commitment to never allow this to happen again.
A crucial fourth step raises awareness and funds.
