Set in the year 996 A.D the story takes part on the borders of Saxon and Mercian held territories in Britain. The newly introduced Christian religion is fighting to replace the old gods and convert Pagans to their own faith. A once peaceful village is thrust to the forefront of the war. A Wiccan priestess, Viking captive and a warlord all strive to survive the turmoil.
