Pagan Outreach

Proclaimed by: M Macha Nightmare
Proclaimed from: San Rafael, California

Looking for the skills to be an effective leader in your grove, coven or group? Cherry Hill Seminary specializes in distance education for the busy Pagan. Helping students learn how to counsel Pagans and other seekers from the wider community is a life affirming outreach effort by the Cherry Hill Seminary, a professional Pagan ministry program. Other tracks include public ministry and cultural studies.

Working together for a shared vision is important, according to CHS student Jon Harwood. “This is, from my viewpoint, the very best time to be participating in Cherry Hill because so much is being developed and ‘figured out as we go', ” he reflected. “To me it is an opportunity to participate in the creation of a really important thing, that is, a Pagan seminary that actually reflects the values and processes of Pagans, ” Harwood stated.

The courses are taught by highly motivated instructors with graduate degrees and by long-time priestesses and priests with recognized years-long deep Pagan community experience, according to CHS student Michael Reeder’s web-published comments about the Seminary ( Most of the students are Pagan community leaders and the courses are taught with respect to all levels of experience.

“Different viewpoints are tolerated and discussed, and there is agreement and openness to expanding the curriculum, ” Reeder wrote. “Students emerge with an ability to compare and contrast the various Pagan religions against established religions, and hold their own in discussions with the real world, ” he explained.

Some of the Fall 2005 offerings include: Introduction to Interfaith; Pagans and the Law; Media and Public Relations; Call of the Dark Mother, and much more. Students in online classes should have a basic understanding of their computers and online use. Please check the tech needs page for suggested hardware, software, and capabilities before you register. Enrollment for Fall 2005 courses begins August 1.

Basing its philosophy on sacred connections and community building, Cherry Hill Seminary’s thought-provoking courses reach for the rapidly growing Pagan community. The many denominations and traditions of modern Paganism are the fastest growing religions in the United States, and are popularly available in the many books, films and prime-time televisions shows involving aspects of Paganism. An increase in Pagan practitioners has created a demand for teachers, leaders and professionally trained clergy – and Cherry Hill Seminary is trying to meet this growing demand.
