CoG poll provides demographic insights into greater Pagan community.
Berkeley, CA – April 9, 2006. In an anonymous poll conducted by the Covenant of the Goddess from September 2005 to March, 2006, results show the largest number of respondents to be US residents between the ages of 18-39 with a college education who are registered to vote. More than 70% of responses were from women.
The Covenant of the Goddess (CoG) opened this poll with the hopes of understanding our demographics to better serve the Wiccan/Pagan population. Information gathered from earlier CoG polls has been used for multiple press releases and quoted in books. Such information is also useful to provide greater understanding of neo-pagans. The CoG poll was not intended to provide conclusive demographics but to identify trends in the neo-pagan population.
The poll indicates that a majority of respondents are well educated, above a high school diploma, and an overwhelming number (94%) are registered voters. The poll also shows 27% are raising their children within their religion, while 52% indicate a multi-faith upbringing. Nearly two-thirds of the respondents indicate their spiritual practice is not affiliated with any faith group or organization.
