Philanthropy As Holiday Gifts

If you are like me, you feel the push and pull between celebrating your personal holiday of the season, the Winter Solstice, and the Christain holiday of the season, Christmas. AND if you are like me, you felt torn about the subject of how to celebrate so deeply, that you've put off purchasing gifts. After all, you are green and you are pagan - still, you want to gift something because you also love your family, no matter how conflicting their holidays are with yours.
So if you are still considering what to gift this year, one day after the Solstice and three days before Christmas, consider gifting donations to organizations you wish to see thrive in the coming year. This keeps wrapping paper, packaging and the unwanted gift from production lines and landfills. It resolves the desire to gift something to a loved one. And best of all, it creates change in the world you live in towards a purpose you wish to see thrive.
I donated to several organizations this year, including Witch Vox, and send out cards to let family, friends and employees know that their gift supports the chosen causes. I have given gifts of donation this year and have received gifts of donation as well. And I love being on both ends of that energy flow.
