Harry McBride Crosses Over

Harry McBride (Belenus 2*)
March 7, 1941 - December 27, 2003
Harry McBride, originally from Philadelphia, died just after Yule at his home in Oakland, California, after several months fighting prostate cancer that had metastasized. He was greatly helped in his last days by his OTO-sister Glenn Turner, who had arranged home-based hospice care for him.
Harry was an initiate of Gardnerian Wicca and in the OTO and had a wide occult experience and history that he mostly kept to himself. (Did you know he was once a personal student of Israel Regardie?) In addition, he was a founding board member of the Fellowship of the Spiral Path. Harry had been
a member of the former Coven Tobar Bhride, and was a regular guest at Coven Trismegiston Sabbats for many years.
Harry served for many years in the Navy and the merchant marine, circumnavigating the world and crossing the equator many times -- earning him the title of "shell-back" and the embossed & illuminated certificate from the Navy to prove it.
In more recent years, Harry was a courageous explorer of the psychedelic frontiers of consciousness -- venturing as far as the upper reaches of the Amazon in search of entheogenic experiences. He put his spiritual practice into political action through the medical marijuana movement.
Harry had made pilgrimages to Lithuania, for he was a believer in the theories of the late Marija Gimbutas. He was a true son of Bridey. In love may he return again.
Prudence Priest and friends will be doing a memorial for Harry at McLaren Park in San Francisco the evening of January 6, 2004, Full Moon. Glenn Turner is planning another larger memorial in about two weeks, details TBA.
