Rooms Available in Pagan Community House

Proclamation... Eagle's Landing
You are invited to come and live at Eagle's Landing, a beautiful Colorado paradise. Left Hand Creek runs through the North facing backyard and waters a small woodland of cottonwood and willow while on the South of the building plains grasses wave and clear blue sky stretches into the distance. The wide decks of two houses overlook the cool back yard, and the Southern exposure warms the houses inside and out. Beautiful organic garden plots dot the landscape, growing vegetables and flowers for the people that inhabit this remarkable land. A communal sweat lodge and fire pit are nestled in beside the creek, allowing ritual and campfire songs to bring together the community. There is also an outdoor sacred circle and altar for rituals and an ancient weather beaten tennis court that makes a wonderful space for fire dancing, bonfires, or basketball.
There are two houses on the land, one to the East and one to the West. They are connected by a small studio, which is currently in need of cleaning and repair but will eventually be available for community use. The houses were once mirrors of one another, but over the years remodeling and most recently a devastating house fire have changed them in subtle ways. The studio itself has wide glass doors to the south, letting in the light and warmth of the sun. One wall is covered in full length mirrors, making it a great space for dance, yoga, martial arts, and more. It will also be a wonderful place to practice music, hold drum circles or jam sessions, and invite community gatherings.
There is a well established spiritual community of friends and family that meets at Eagle's Landing. Between project days, community dinners, discussion groups, and more we have formed the support system for one another that many associate with a close knit church. Currently the only ongoing gathering is a weekend celebration approximately every six weeks. Neo-pagan or wiccan in focus, these gatherings celebrate ancient holidays and the changing of the seasons. Starting Friday evening with a small, core group that begins preparations for the main event on Saturday, they often continue well into Sunday morning. A fire burns starting Saturday morning for an afternoon sweat lodge ceremony, after which a circle ceremony is held outdoors to celebrate the changing seasons and the ancient holy days. A potluck dinner after ritual leads naturally into an all night party, with many guests sleeping over and helping with clean up the following morning. These parties often get pretty wild, but are always kept very safe. Anyone who decides to join us as a house mate will need to be prepared to open their home to this celebration, including letting the participants of the sweat ceremony use the showers afterward. We will always look for people who are happy, not just to allow these and other gatherings, but to participate as both guest and host. You do not need to be a pagan to appreciate the ceremonies and gatherings, though, so please don't let differences in spiritual paths take you away if this sounds interesting. Many of our community members follow spiritual paths that do not identify as Pagan, but everyone can appreciate the changing seasons!
Eagle's Landing West
The Western house retains many of its original charms. A beautiful old fireplace warms the cozy living room. The back deck overlooks the woods and the creek. The kitchen includes a brand new stove and an inviting breakfast nook with huge South facing windows. The intimate dining room adjoins a front balcony where bird feeders tempt the local wildlife to put on an unbeatable show. Downstairs there is a large laundry room which is also used for storage and indoor workspace. A large garage in in the process of being transformed into a workspace and home brewery.
The Rooms There are four bedrooms in the Western house, one of which is available for rent. The room is a pretty standard bedroom, about 11'X12' with a large south facing window and a large closet. It is on the second floor, with most of the communal areas of the house. You would be sharing a bathroom with one other tenant. This one is available NOW!
The House Mates There are four confirmed housemates for Eagle's Landing West. Our first housemate is a young middle aged vegetarian Buddhist who works with mentally disabled individuals as a caretaker and friend. He has lived here for more than seven years, renting one of the small upstairs rooms. He is unassuming and personable, easy to get along with and easy to live with. This is the guy who would be sharing your bathroom. Our second housemate lives downstairs in a large garden level room. A wonderful gentleman, also of a young middle age, he is a yoga teacher and window washer and spiritually pursues yoga and meditation, among other things. Also very easy to live with! Back upstairs there is a couple sharing the master suit. One of them is our brewer and works unpredictable hours. His girlfriend works from home and loves to cook.
Eagle's Landing East
The Eastern house has recently been completely rebuilt due to a fire last fall. All new construction with beautiful wood floors, wide open windows, and a gorgeous and open kitchen/dining area make this a wonderful place to call home. We have a large laundry room, a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace, and a workspace in the garage that are communal territory.
The Rooms There are five bedrooms in the Western house, one of which is available for rent. The room is a small upstairs bedroom with a southern window and a large closet. While you will want a fan to keep it cool, the view is amazing and your only direct (wall sharing) neighbor is an office: quiet!
The House Mates There are three confirmed adult housemates for Eagle's Landing West. There is also one baby already living here, and another expected at the end of August. Downstairs, and the nearest neighbor to the room available, is 20-something single mother and her 5 month old daughter. She is a bright and engaging personality, interested in gaming including LARP and working to become a midwife. Her daughter is a good sleeper, rarely wakes during the night, and is very quiet and easy going during the day. Upstairs, renting the other three rooms as a bedroom and two office spaces, is a young couple (22 and 30) . We are the organizational/driving force behind the community here, and we are excitedly anticipating the arrival of our first child, due August 31st. Ian is a pagan priest, gifted musician, entrepreneur and computer tech. Kaelin is a passionate mother-to-be, interested in but not knowledgeable about holistic health, gardening, small scale farming, homeschooling and homemaking. She is currently working as a marketing director for the summer camp and after school enrichment program that she, Ian, and one other business partner operate in Boulder and Denver. We plan on having a home birth. Obviously this is an unusual housemate situation, but we're sure that the perfect person is out there somewhere! Obviously you will need to be comfortable living with infants, or at least willing to give it your best shot.
The Basics
Two Bedrooms are available in a duplex on a shared 5 acre plot of land located 8 minutes North of Boulder. One room is available now, the other will be available August 1st. Rent is $500/month, and does not include utilities; utilities vary from about $50 to $80 per person depending upon usage, time of year, and the number of people dividing the costs. Rent is on a month to month basis, with a 30 day notice policy requested on either end if things aren't working out. We will ask that you sign a month to month lease agreement and supply a cleaning deposit equal to one month's rent. You are also required to show proof of renter's insurance. Both houses include complete laundry facilities, high speed wireless internet, wood burning fireplaces, and lots of great communal spaces: kitchen, living room, dining room, deck, and garage. Pets are an option we would discuss with you. Decisions would be based on the temperament of your furry, scaly, or otherwise non-human friend (s) , as well as keeping the total number of pets reasonable. We are couple, child, and baby friendly, although there are restrictions on the total number of people we would consider based on keeping the communal spaces usable. We are friendly toward everyone: GLBTQP; any spiritual path or belief system; any political views; any age (s) ; etc. We consider our houses and land a community center with a focus on spirituality, sustainability, and creating family like bonds whether the ties are blood or not. To sustain this we ask that all who visit our land or choose to live here abide by the Wiccan Rede: An it harm none, do what you will. We also encourage you to abide as guided by the law of three, that everything you give to the Universe will be returned in kind and threefold. To reach us with questions or to come see the space, please drop an e-mail to Kaelin at kaelinkelly@gmail.com.
In conclusion
If you've made it this far then you are probably interested, so please drop me, Kaelin, an e-mail to come out, see the land and the houses, and meet your future roommates! We want to fill these rooms with people friendly to our vision asap, since we have to make rent on both houses every month. We'd love your help with the July rent for EL West, where we are a bit behind due to the unfilled room, and would be willing to consider a sublet in that space if you need something short term.
