Wiccanings, Initiations in Sioux City IA

SIOUX CITY, IA --- Siouxland First Wiccan Congregation is proud to announce the Wiccanings of two wonderful young ladies, Twiggy (9) and Mud (6) . With family and friends attending, the two youngsters were ritually blessed by the Gods, introduced to the assembled, and placed under the Protection and Guidance of the Gods and all assembled. The girls chose their names, because they were related to the Eartth, they said.
Wiccanings are child blessing ceremonies, but they do not bind the child to a religious path.
Rev. Jeva Singh-Anand, Board President of the Iowa based 501 (c) (3) organization incorporated in Iowa, said, "Wiccanings are formal acknowledgements that say, these kids are part of our religious community. They're welcome here, and they are treasured. But they are not bound to the Wiccan faith for life. That sort of commitment is reserved to those who have reached the age of majority."
The Wiccaning Ceremony was held in Sioux City's First Unitarian Universalist Church, October 7 at 11 am.
SFWC is also pleased to announce the FIRST DEGREE initiations of Sister Bobie Martinez (Booboolynsky) and Sister Amanda Mills (Pyra) . Having worked and studied with SFWC for over a day and a year, and having proved themselves to be real assets to its community, these women petitioned the Board of Directors and were promptly approved.
The initiation ceremony, whose details are confidential, consisted of two sessions of intense, demanding magickal work, each lasting 3-5 hours. The Initiatory Rites began October 7, concluding October 8. They were held at Sioux City's First Unitarian Universalist Church.
