Sexy Vampiress Proves That Salem Is More Than Just Witches
Salem, MA -- July 21, 2004 -- On October 29, 2004, real vampires from around the globe will partake in an evening of erotic fear and morbid lusts at The Vampires' Masquerade Ball, an international gathering of the undead held annually in Salem, Massachusetts. The Ball is hosted by the Countess Bathoria, who flies to Salem from her lair in Montreal for an evening of captivating sin. The Lyceum Bar and Grill, Salem's haunted restaurant, becomes the setting for Countess Bathoria's ravenous descent upon the Witch City! The Vampire's Masquerade Ball is part of Salem's Festival of the Dead, an annual October event series that celebrates death's macabre customs, heretical histories, and strange rituals. Tickets for the ball and details of the event are available online at www.festivalofthedead.com.
Indulgences of the evening include sumptuous hors d'oeuvres, blood ceremonies, a cash bar for those for whom blood is not enough, gothic music and dance, ritual flogging, and a cash prize for most provocative costume.
The intoxicating sacrilege of the evening culminates in a ritual seduction of the soul, where each guest is offered the choice: kneel before the dark Countess and receive her Vampiric baptism, or forever be mired in the mundane world of daylight. -- more -- The Vampires' Masquerade Ball #2 The Countess Bathoria is named for the Countess Erzsebet Bathory, a 16th century tyrant who bathed in the blood of over 600 servant girls in hopes that she might prolong her beauty. This gothic pin-up girl, in her guise as b-movie scream queen Melantha Blackthorne, has been featured in such magazines as Draculina, Corpse, and Playboy and stars in the horror films "Sinners and Saints" (which she also produced and directed) , "The Night They Returned" and "Tender Flesh for the Zombie Goddess." She invites revelers to step through the mists of insanity, hearkening to the foreboding call of gothic music that escalates into an orgiastic frenzy as she beckons them to surrender to the darkest caress of sharp teeth upon a tender neck.
The Lyceum Bar and Grill, where the ball is held each year, welcomes guests into the haunting atmosphere of an early nineteenth century meeting place with rooms drenched in candlelight, glowing fireplaces, exposed brick and beams, and majestic windows. It is the site of Alexander Graham Bell's first public demonstration of the telephone (a device once thought to be able to contact the dead) and the former site of Witch Trials victim Bridget Bishop's apple orchard. Some say that her spirit still haunts the Lyceum today.
The Vampires' Masquerade Ball gathers night's children to attend to the dark Countess Bathoria, who will show the world the wonder working power in the blood! ###
