The Dead Return to Salem This Halloween

Salem, MA -- July 21, 2004 -- This October marks the return of Festival of the Dead, an annual Halloween event series in Salem, Massachusetts, that explores death's macabre customs, heretical histories, and strange rituals. Hosted by the foremost authorities on the spirit world, Festival of the Dead includes dark rituals, supernatural workshops, psychic fairs, nocturnal gatherings, and is crowned by the Official Salem Witches' Halloween Ball on October 30. Founded by Salem Witch elders Shawn Poirier and Christian Day, Festival of the Dead beckons guests to step through the veil into a realm where spirits await. Tickets are available online at www.festivalofthedead.com.

Festival of the Dead explores death's mysteries through haunting events that investigate both the favored and forbidden ways in which cultures have revered, celebrated, and secretly divined the meaning of life's inevitable destination. Participants journey to the underworld, learn to use spirit boards, practice the arts of necromancy, peer into the future with a psychic reading, enjoy a Samhain feast, wander a gallery of terrifying art, dance with the dark faeries, communicate with departed loved ones in an authentic seance, slay their inner demons, meet real vampires, attend a voodoo graveyard ceremony, dine with the dead, and even enroll their kids in a school where they can learn to contact ghosts!
-- more --

Festival of the Dead #2
On October 30, the Salem Witches invite revelers from around the globe for the crown jewel of Salem's October season at The Official Salem Witches' Halloween Ball, the world's most exclusive Halloween event! Participants celebrate the afterlife with a masquerade of food, dancing, ritual, live music, free psychic readings, and prizes where the dead cavort with the living and powerful spells are cast for the Witches' new year.

Death continues to captivate our imaginations and ensnare our minds, beckoning us to journey into unknown realms and destinations beyond the tattered shroud of mortality. Learn more about Festival of the Dead, contact event hosts, or purchase tickets online at www.festivalofthedead.com.
