FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Military Pagan Network (MPN) shares the excitement of the Military Pagan community at the outstanding news that Sacred Well Congregation (SWC) , a Wiccan church based in Converse, Texas has obtained a Religious Identification Code (11) for use in US Army personnel records. FINALLY, members of at least one neo-pagan group, Sacred Well Congregation, can identify their faith in official Army records.
Members and officials within the Military Pagan Network, Inc had been pursuing this goal for a significant number of years, but not being a religious entity in and of itself, had obtained little success. Upon hearing of the ground-breaking and heartening achievement by Sacred Well, MPN once again approached the offices of the US Army Chief of Chaplains for information as to how this significant milestone could be shared by other Pagan organizations having military personnel in their membership.
The Director of Personnel and Ecclesiastical Relations, US Army Chief of Chaplains Office responded to MPN’s inquiry with an email outlining the documentation necessary for ORGANIZATIONS having military pagans to obtain a Religious Identification Code for their respective organizations. The Military Pagan Network, Inc., is proud to share the means of this accomplishment with any qualified Pagan organization so desirous of getting their members identified as something different from “OTHER”.
MPN immediately FORWARDED this email to its represented organizations. We have now placed a form on the MPN website (http://milpagan.org/resources/documents.html) referencing the enabling email, as well as outlining the information required to apply. Both an email and ‘snail-mail’ address is given for submission of requests from 501 (c) (3) registered applicants. For years, Military Pagans of the US Army have had to remain unaccounted and ignored. NOW is your chance to be recognized by one more Service (USAF has been counting Pagans for years!) .
