Sacred Space Conference 2014

Proclaimed by: Caroline Kenner - A WitchVox Sponsor
Proclaimed from: Olympia, Maryland

The 24th Sacred Space Conference will take place Thursday, March 13th through Sunday, March 16th, 2014, at the Holiday Inn Laurel West, Route 198 at I-95, in Laurel, Maryland. Sacred Space is the premiere annual East Coast conference on magick, mysticism and metaphysics.

This year’s featured presenters are Selena Fox, M. Macha Nightmare, and Orion Foxwood. The 2014 sponsored presenters will be Jason Pitzl-Waters and Renna Shesso.

Sacred Space draws on a host of highly qualified local presenters, mostly from the mid-Atlantic region, to complete our workshop and ritual schedule. Program highlights for 2014 will include workshop tracks on elderhood, death and dying, and Appalachian folk traditions. All programming is aimed at the intermediate to advanced practitioner.

Sacred Space has a commitment to trance possession rituals, including the annual Conjure Dance and a Universal Temple of Spirits rite for Spirits of Healing. Workshop topics in 2014 include Tarot, astrology, plant magic, yoga, and ritual design. Sacred Space 2014 will also feature rituals such as Selena Fox’s beloved and ever-evolving Brighid ritual, Literata’s Answering Columbia’s Call, Robin Fennelly’s Nuit’s Mantle, Katrina Messenger’s Awakening the Desire & Will, and Orion Foxwood’s Consecration of the Sacred Blood.

Until Yule, the price for the four-day conference is only $150. Between Yule and Imbolc, the full conference is $175. At the door registration is $200. Day passes are $100, two day passes are $150.

Our attendees tell us that they are particularly grateful to pursue their continuing development in the company of their peers across a wide spectrum of magickal traditions and specialties.

Sacred Space is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization based in Virginia. Our mission is to run an annual interfaith esoteric conference in the Washington, DC and Baltimore metropolitan area.

Selena Fox will be joining Sacred Space for the second time since the most recent revival six years ago. Selena is one of America’s best-known Pagan elders, networkers, and civil liberties activists. She is founder and co-executive director of Circle Sanctuary, an international Nature Spirituality resource center in a 200-acre nature preserve in Wisconsin, as well as Circle Network, Lady Liberty League, and the Pagan Academic Network.

Sacred Space is eager to welcome M. Macha Nightmare, president of Cherry Hill Seminary and author of The Pagan Book of Living and Dying, Pagan Pride, and Witchcraft and the Web, for the first time. Macha is one of the founders of the Reclaiming tradition of Witchcraft, and is also an initiate of the Faery/Feri tradition. A superb ritualist, generous teacher, and able administrator, Macha is an all-around Pagan webweaver.

Orion Foxwood is a Witch, southern conjure-man, and faery seer. He is the author of The Faery Teachings, The Tree of Enchantment, The Candle and the Crossroads, and The Cauldron and the Crossroads. He is the founder of House of Brigh Faery Seership Institute, a co-founder of Conjure Crossroads which hosts the Folk Magic Festival in New Orleans, and ConjureCon in Santa Cruz, CA, and is the founding Elder of Foxwood Temple.

Since launching The Wild Hunt in 2004, Jason Pitzl-Waters has become one of the leading voices within the burgeoning world of Pagan media. Passionate about the role of journalism within the Pagan community, Jason believes that it plays a key role in defining who we are, and the ability to work in concert towards our shared goals.

Renna Shesso is a shamanic healer and teacher, priestess of the Craft, and a reader and teacher of Tarot. She’s the author of A Magical Tour of the Night Sky and Math for Mystics, both from Weiser. With 30+ years in the Craft, and 20+ years in shamanism, her work and writing also draw on a lifetime of Virgo-methodical research, scatter-shot curiosity and gob-smacked wonder.
