Innkeepers- Couple or Small family Wanted
Ozark Avalon a Church and Land Sanctuary located off of Highway 179 halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis (20 minutes from Columbia) .
We have a 4 bedroom historic farmhouse and campground that is in need of love and care, but is very beautiful, cozy and fully furnished including washer and dryer. We are looking for someone to live in the easily heat able main rooms (shared with Inn guests) and two private bedrooms upstairs of the farmhouse. Two additional bedrooms would be available for rent by members or by guests. We are looking for a person (who can be home most of the time) or a couple (with one at home partner) who can market the Inn, greet guests and keep the public areas clean. They would also host a community potluck once a month but would have the private use of the house at other times except for paid guests. In return they would receive free rent but would pay electric and cut firewood during the winter months and keep the grounds mowed and help with garden and general upkeep in the spring and summer. Fees from room rentals and camping would be applied towards the retreat center electric bill 100% until it is completely paid and then split 50% with the church. This position requires a person (s) who is friendly, tidy and outgoing. It would help if they possess some computer and marketing skills, as well as general home maintenance skills. This is an ideal position for a retired person, person on disability who can meet the physical requirements, or a student (3 colleges/universities are within a 25 minute drive) . Couples can have one person working full time and children and pets are negotiable.
Any Inn keeper must be pagan or Pagan Friendly and open to a diverse community. Two other couples now live on the land (in cabins and mobile homes) and others may be joining the community in the near future. We are looking for people who want to make Ozark Avalon their home.
Ozark Avalon is a church of Nature. Our mission is to provide access to nature, a safe place for outdoor worship in an earth-centered, earth honoring spiritual context, to promote community among persons with these beliefs and practices and to further environmentalism and appreciation for nature spirits and the earth. Our primary outreach is operating a land sanctuary and spiritual retreat center. The spirits of nature are respected and land management is done from a spiritual and magical perspective. Located on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River, Ozark Avalon is 160 acres of groves, woods, and meadows. A three-acre lake for swimming, a small cave, hiking trails, and many natural shrines are found here. We are open year round and offer level camping, hot showers, and a retreat center (a remodeled pre-civil war farm house) . All persons interested in earth-honoring practices are encouraged to apply for this position.
