SummerFest - Protest results

Proclaimed by: Nytewind
Proclaimed from: Billings, Montana

Well, the picketers didn't show up. Gail and a friend showed up Saturday morning on the property. However since we'd done an all night fire, no one was up except Isaac Bonewits, who saw them, then escorted them around a bit, steering them to the gate. Read his
review at

They came back, unseen, and posted signs on some trees by the entrance. According to yesterday's Red Lodge paper, they had a prayer meeting on Tuesday before we arrived. Headlines:

"Members of the Yellowstone Presbytery pray Tuesday for the Wiccans at the Westminster Spires campground."

Presbyterians hold prayer vigil in advance of Wiccans
By Bob Wallace, CCN Staff Writer

"Members of the Montana Christian community gathered at noon Tuesday at the Westminster Spires campground south of Red Lodge to pray for members of Wicca's Mountain Moon Circle who will hold a gathering at the camp this weekend.

A total of seven people showed up for the prayer group, which took place around a campfire ring next to a tall, wooden cross.

Gail Beauchamp, of Red Lodge, who has expressed in the media displeasure with the gathering during the past few weeks, began with verses from Romans, and also added a hope for it to rain on the Wiccans. [Full article:]"

On the opinion page (not available on the website) there were 2 letters opposing Gail and another from her, attempting to 'clarify' her statements.

Must say the camp had some bad vibes when we arrived, but as soon as we put up the alchemical fire circle, the spirits of the land seemed to know we were there to honor them and things RAPIDLY changed!

We had a great time, in spite of the fact that it got cold and
rainy. Takes more than that to stop a group of Pagans! We adapted just fine!
