Scott Helland tours the US in June 2005

Proclaimed by: Frenchy and the Punk
Proclaimed from: New Paltz, New York

Proclamation... What happens when you give an acoustic guitar to an ex punk/metal bass player who has a knack for melody and loves epic movies and medieval imagery? You can find out by going to see New York based musician Scott Helland perform live as he tours the U.S. in support of his 6th solo CD Brocade.
A regular on the Northeast Pagan Pride Festival and Mayfair circuits, Scott, a troubadour on an eclectic path both in music and in life, will bring his sound to over a dozen venues throughout the month starting on June 1st at the Heavenly Hardware pagan store in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as at local pagan shops, festivals and cafes in Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, California, Arizona and Michigan.
Scott's music is a magical brew of acoustic instrumentals from a cauldron of eclectic musical influences and blends a visceral mix of rock, modern folk, neoclassical and has a medieval flavor and movie soundtrack mystique. Truly independent, Scott's performance is a unique one man show with live acoustic and bass guitars accompanied by a sequencer of rhythms and percussion creating an entertaining musical soundscape. "My instrumentals have a visual quality to them so don't be surprised if you get a little movie playing in your head while listening! Plus there's humor in the show. Having fun and sharing that energy is what it's all about for me."
Helland got his musical start playing bass guitar in bands during the hardcore punk explosion of the early `80s and also with crossover/metal bands up into the `90's. Helland says "even though you might not be able to tell from the melodic acoustic nature of the music, those early days of playing bass and being totally immersed in the punk and metal scene have really inspired and influenced my records today."
Helland is very enthusiastic about touring across country. He's performed live with various bands as well as for his solo shows for the past 20 years in South America, Canada, along the East Coast and throughout the South. The festival events for this tour has him sharing the stage with Bradford Smith, sede, Grant Withers and many more at the Pagan Picnic in St. Louis, Missouri on June 4 and 5th and Kelianna and Burning Sage to name a few at PaganStock in Bangor, Michigan on June 24 - 26th. Check the website for the other dates for this tour.
Scott will be back on the east coast in July and will be traveling to England to scout venues and a possible tour in Europe for next year. He will also be performing at Pagan Pride festivals in Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia and New York in the Fall and is looking forward to sharing the stage with great bands like Revel Moon and Blue Knight.
To contact Scott about bookings, email him at scott@scotthelland.com. You can visit his website www.scotthelland.com for performance dates, photos and audio clips. Scott's latest CD, Brocade, as well as his earlier work is available online at cdbaby.com and crowolfmusic.com and local pagan shoppes.
