Time for a change in Gerber's packaging.

The Gerber Company has produced new plastic containers for their baby foods. These conatiners are labeled #7 plastic, and are not recyclable in many areas. It is also unlikely that changes in the plastic content will increase their chances of recycling. Basically, babies are filling up landfills in the name of cost for Gerber and convenience for their parents.
It would be ideal for Gerber to do away with the plastic packaging; since this new packaging saves the Gerber Company money, there will probably be resistance to change. Realistically, it will be ideal for Gerber to run a campaign ( along with their many others) for the reuse of these containers. They have many uses for babies, children and adults. They can be used as storage for paints, building blocks, cereal containers for small trips, sewing needles, nuts and bolts, and many other possibilities.
The Gerber Company has a hotline (1800-4-GERBER) . All calls made to this number are put into writing and passed on to the people qualified for dealing with their content. As consumers, we have strength in numbers for making a difference. This is a gigantic opportunity for everyone who loves our children and our planet to voice their concerns and opinions.
