Portland Pagan Volunteer Needed

Proclaimed by: WitchyMamaHolly
Proclaimed from: Milwaukie, Oregon

Proclamation...

Hello All and happy New Year,

My name is Holly O'Brien and I am a divinity student at Cherry Hill Seminary which is a Pagan seminary program. I will graduate with a masters in divinity with a concentration in Pagan Pastoral Care and Counseling hopefully in about a year and a half.

I am going to be volunteering at the Coffee Creek Correctional Institution starting in January and working with the female Pagan inmates who currently do not have any Pagan volunteers.

The chaplain (a UU Minister!) let me know that the minimum security mens program in Portland is also in need of a volunteer or two. The volunteer/s needs to be male. One volunteer is enough but two would be even better.

Volunteering doesn't have to be a large time commitment. Once a month for an hour or two is enough but more often can be arranged.

Many Christian, Muslim, and Native American volunteers take care of their communities need in the prison systems, but currently these two facilities have no Pagans volunteering to run rituals or simply talk with inmates.

If you are interested please let me know! I have compiled a list of resources that I can send you to get you started on your journey. You can also share this e-mail and my contact information with other people or groups that you think may be interested.

If volunteering doesn't sound right for you, but you want to help you might want to consider becoming a pen-pal or donating used books to the prison systems. The Coffee Creek institution has a wide verity of religious materials available, but a very small portion of that is Pagan.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Holly O'Brien
