Live Oak Local Council, Covenant of the Goddess,
Accepted for Membership in Austin Area Interreligious Ministries
Austin, TX
July 23, 2004
On Thursday, June 17, 2004, Austin Area Interreligious Ministries (AAIM) voted to accept the application for membership of the Live Oak Local Council of the Covenant of the Goddess. Live Oak is now a full member of AAIM, giving Wiccans and Witches in the Austin area the ability to officially participate in the interfaith ministries and activities of AAIM.
Live Oak has participated in the ministries of AAIM for over a year, including the Hands-On Housing program, the Community Thanksgiving Service, and Austin Faith Dialog; and we look forward to representing the people of faith known as Wiccans in other AAIM ministries in the future.
AAIM accepted Live Oak into membership on its second application, after a presentation on Wicca and the Covenant of the Goddess to the AAIM board of directors by the Texas Local
Council's Interfaith Officer and Live Oak Local Council's Public Information Officer. We look forward to a long and productive relationship between Live Oak and AAIM.
About CoG and Live Oak Local Council:
The Covenant of the Goddess (CoG) was founded in 1975 to increase cooperation among Wiccans and to secure for Wiccan individuals and covens the legal protections enjoyed by members of other religions. The Live Oak Local Council of CoG is the central Texas branch of CoG, headquartered in Austin and extending throughout central and south Texas. It became an autonomous Local Council in May of 2003.
