PAGANS be vocal be seen be public

Proclaimed by: Goldie Rootwalker
Proclaimed from: Vancouver, Washington

Proclamation...

Are you a Pagan? Are your good points Healing, Helping, Empathy, Love, Nurturing, Giving, and caring?

Of course you have all those traits and many more good ones!

We are Pagans. Be proud. It's a monumentally wonderful thing to be!!

I work with Christians and am constantly bombarded by church groups, Christian charities, the prayers, the blessings and the care all in the name of Christianity. They are helpful and give openly, and care... most of the time... we can't all be perfect. :)

Christians are not the only ones who help others. They are not the only ones who bless. They are not the only ones who care and heal and help. They are not the only ones who pray. They celebrate life equally, if not more so.

And celebrating life is to celebrate all life and that includes even those of other faiths, nationalities, colors, genders, etc.

And to celebrate life is not just to glorify our existence but to help others in our circles and along our paths and wherever we can reach out and offer a little hope, some encouragement, a gentle word of advice, and maybe some gas money. :)

Today I counseled someone to not commit suicide.

I have done it before.

I save lives by listening and by being bluntly honest about my views and my beliefs.

I believe those in need are led to me. I am a Healer, an empath, a voice of reason and a gentle soul. I believe I've been given a gift for a reason. I try as often as possible to use this gift.

Often, I do not state that I am a Pagan. But my faith drives me to do the good deeds I do. It is not all together in our words, but in our actions.

Why do Christians (and other faiths) glorify their faith when they are helping others, yet Pagans very seldom freely confirm their beliefs at these times?

It is something akin to "being in the broom closet". It is a matter of going public even for a moment.

It is fear.

Yet, as we are so proud to be who we are, not proclaiming our Pagan views to those who are in need, is like missing an opportunity.

We are not out to collect souls like some faiths, but to send a message to The Lost that there are loving hearts out there who are not of the Christian faith, can give hope to those most in need.

The person I counseled tonight had tried the way of Christianity and it failed him. He tried to find solace in their way, but found no comfort. I gave him hope that Christians are not the only good people and that he is not a bad person for not being one.

I believe I was the first person, who is basically a stranger to him, to hug him. To tell him he is loved. To forgive him his sins against humanity. To help him, guide him, offer him advice and hope, and to be sincere in my actions....

All in the name of Paganism.

I am Pagan. I am a Witch. I am a Healer. I am a Humanist. Some of my favourite people think as I do and draw energies to use for good as I do.

We're all in this thing together, my friends.

As thousands of people are losing their jobs and families are losing their homes, and there are people who are suffering and hungry at this, the most sacred of most people's calendar year, we will find ourselves face to face with serious issues that are not to be met lightly.

Everyone embrace those who are in need. Feed a person a meal. Find a family to adopt. Give something to charity. Make a cash donation to your favourite charity in a friend's name. Write a beautiful poem.... and give it to someone you don't know. Give a bum a dollar and don't wonder what he'll spend it on. Buy that kid in line his snack so he can have enough money for bus fare. Tell the veteran you support him. Tell a person how nice they look. SMILE. Tell a person you will light a candle or cast a spell for them. Take a moment to think of ONE GOOD DEED you can do the day you read this.

And the times you do any good deeds and help someone, mention your faith. Give a little attention to your faith because faith is part of what drives us to be vehicles of love.

Thank you,

Goldie Rootwalker
